Do you have the most recent version of the flash player and of Firefox?

This could also happen if you have a poor connection to the internet (I have the same problem if the w-lan isn't working properly).

I have Firefox v25.0 and I just downloaded the latest verison of Flash player.   I tried the live chat in Internet Explorer and it worked fine there.  I have been having problems with Firefox lately.  Firefox won't download anything.  I am going to upgrade Firefox later when I get home.

I recall there's been a few reports of chat not opening with Firefox.

 

Suggestions:

First try restarting FF in Safe Mode with addons disabled (option from the Help menu). If this improves anything, maybe an addon is restricting functionality.

Do you use NoScript by chance? If so, adding simtropolis.com to the whitelist may help, since the chat is opened using JavaScript.
