Question on industrial demand...

Hi,

I recently installed the IRM mod (I love it, I love the different trees I can place too with the props for it) and it's working great, just a quick question: does it change industrial demand?

I've deleted and remade most of my region since installing it, and only the one big city had dirty/manufacturing demand... all the others have negative demand in those areas even after lowering taxes dramatically.  Simultaneously they have super high hi-tech demand.  That's ok with me but it seems weird that all of a sudden there's no demand for the other types... is it due to the mod?  or maybe something else is going on...

The IRM mod doesn't change anything with demand. It's just a very nice re-lot of all Maxis industries without changing anything about those files. Which also means that you can change the properties of the IRM industry will all the usual mods that change Maxis industry, like industry doubler or quadrupler.

Something that can severely screw up demand in regions or sometimes single cities in regions is, first, using a demand mod and then, later, removing it again. So if you tried out the CAM at one point and then removed it, your cities may (but don't have to) show some weird demand behavior.

Demand mods sound like a great idea but usually skew the game so much that it becomes unplayable.

Ok, well I haven't used any demand mods, and it sounds like that's a good thing!  It's not a problem, I was just curious... thanks for the replies.  :)

You said you "deleted and remade MOST of my region".  Now, if you left a city with a high sim EQ, or all of your other cities just reached higher level of EQ, this would account for such a change in demand.  Industrial demand is based on Sim education level as measured by EQ.  Sims can only contribute to only one industrial demand type, so once your sims reach an EQ level sufficient for I-ht, then you will lose demand for all other industrial types.

Interesting... I hadn't thought of that.  I didn't delete most of my region initially because I was feeling lazy and didn't want to deal with the lack of demand that comes from an empty region.  However a few minutes ago I deleted the rest of my "old" cities (pre-mod) because it was getting confusing.  So now it's mostly empty again.  I'm interested to see what happens now!
