Hello Ive Decided today to have ago at somthing else rather than a stadium below is my first non stadium BAT the Happy Childrens Center its not finnised but tell me what you think so far !

I like the look of it.  The simple brick building with a fancy facade is very appropriate.  My main concern is that even though the vibrant colours look great in this preview, they will have to be desaturated quite a lot to stop them being too bright in the game.

Are you planning to have this as a commercial building or an educational building like my daycare centre?

Well made and colorful, textures look good aswell as the model. Have you batted the lot aswell?

It will be a day care center , with a twist .. there will be a few odd things on the bat lol wait till u c what they are !

The bin looks quite realistic, overal you have managed to make simpel but good details.
A bit of a downer for the children to be inside all day though or are they playing in the parkinglot?

It looks a fine BAT so far, I wonder what these unique features will be? I notice also there isn't any outdoor areas for the kiddies.

I also agree with RP about the colours, it would be a shame if the in-game version ended up too bright.

yea, as rp said the colors will have to be desaturated for the game.

Also, imo you should use the lot editor for the parking lot texture so that shadows can come through from other buildings.

The building itself looks good, but I don't like the idea of BATting a small generic parking lot when there are tons of parking lot textures around. If the parking lot was circular or in any other way irregularly shaped, I could understand it, but this way...

The same goes for the trees (why not use LE props) and for the dumpster: Why BAT such a thing when there's a lot editor prop that's 90% identical, even with the open lid? Likewise, the BATted lawn will make the building look a bit odd when surrounded by other buildings with regular grass textures. It's a perfectly flat surface, so why not simply use a default grass texture, put some bush and shrub props on it and call it a day?

The BAT itself looks good, you're certainly not lacking BATting skills (see stadiums), but this one is just not my cup of tea, sorry...

@ t wrecks - what ever man ..i dont like being completely ripped on .. i just bat for fun and find it fun to create my own things instead of just slapping pre created stuff on it .. if dont like my stuff dont bother visiting my threads if ur just goin to rip on me

Whoa, easy... I certainly didn't mean to rip on you. It's your BAT, you can do with it whatever you want, and I know you're doing this for fun - like everybody here. All I wanted to point out is that I like the building in itself, but not everything about it (at least so far), and I tried to point out why. Since you post your stuff here for public review, it can happen to you that people find things they don't like that much and make suggestions on how to improve these issues.

I mentioned some of these things, and I tried to point out what I would consider to be an easier and/or better solution - what you do with that is also entirely up to you. If you like your solution better, then keep it.

If I was going to rip on you completely, I would say It sucks - better give up - which is something I would never say (and have never said) to any BATter!

I apologize if my questions sounded like accusations, but I can assure you that they were meant as mere questions because I was curious why you chose that particular method.

For example, if I would BAT something, I would save the trees for the LE (unless they're directly in or on the building, of course). That's just my way of thinking, and there are reasons for it. However, there are also other ways of thinking, and reasons for them. I asked because I was interested to know the reasons you may have had, nothing more.

By all means, keep up your work and don't let it discourage you when someone doesn't find everything about your creation totally perfect. After all, that doesn't mean it sucks, and I emphasized twice that I like the building itself.

I hope I managed to explain my point of view... no hard feelings intended here, seriously.

Very well explained I believe T Wrecks. I belive it was just a misunderstanding between languages.

I understand what you mean there Franz Ferdinand, a tramp in my language does mean prostitute... But now that I understand it is a homeless person I think it's appropriate.

I love the humanity of it.

 

Great work, you are truely one of my favourite artists around. If only we could see a few more of these pieces of art released.

 

This bat in particular is so colourful and realistic. It is something the game needs.

 

Just remember that everyone has a different opinion, some will be bad and some good. Just take it all in and follow what your heart is telling you when you design your creations.

That's a really neat CS lot! I really like it. I don't recall seeing any Kiddie play centers, so it is an excellent addition to the STEX!

The tramp (bum here in the states), makes this an interesting conversation peice. Hmmmm...

Maybe this idea is more appropriater for the modding forum... but...

Wouldn't it be interesting if homeless people just appeared on SC4 lots if unemployment was high? They'd go away (or be reduced) if the mayor did something to help them or lowered unemployment. I'll copy this idea into the Modding Open Discussion thread.
