Help with PIM-X

Upon loading PIM-X, it doesn't seem to work properly. Under "Descriptors", the file I'm trying to mod only loads up the "Lot" exemplar, not the "Building" exemplar. I've checked Reader, both exemplars are in the same file. Also, under Descriptors, on the bottom-left corner where the Model is, it shows no Model and "Unknown Resource Key". I've posted (Under a different name) on the PIM-X Support Thread, but there was no response back.

What are you trying to do with PIM-X?

I was trying to edit the "Item Description Key" property in a file I modded myself. (I also have, and I'm aware of LEProp and Reader). It won't show the Building exemplar when I right click on the Lot file.

Thanks.  Since I don't use PIM-X, anyone else?

I would ask if this problem occurs for every file in PIM-X or is it just this one causing the problem? If only this one, I'd hazard a guess something is wrong with the file that's causing the problems - what exactly have you been changing with the model?

Well in that case there should be a building exemplar for the blank prop (since this is now in effect the building) and a lot exemplar for the lot itself. Which you will see depends on which option is selected in the list on the left.

If you have the building exemplar open then right clicking it will show an option "Open all lots using this building/family" which will show all lots created with this building.

Conversely if you have a lot open you can right click and select "Open building(s) from this lot" to get at the building exemplar.

Unless you tell the program to open both in this way, it will only ever open the one you asked it to. The other potential pitfall is that possibly you are expecting to see the name of the original model file in the buildings exemplars. But, when you use the blank prop as the building, the name of the actual exemplar will be whatever you decided to name it, therefore will not necessarily match the building name or even be similar. It's recommended to add something unique like your initials at the beginning of every exemplar name - it makes finding your stuff much easier.
