Rich People won't let go of their enormous back yard

This has been haunting me since the inception of the game. Usually I start by zoning low densities and wide before I squalor up. And in the mean while some enormous mansion pops up taking almost entire blocks. Some took 20 slots. While in the low densities they are okay given what they are worth they become an enormous headache when you advance to medium densities. While the lower and medium income people let go of their houses in order to build apartments, those huge green yards would stay idly surrounded by already risen landscape. Even if you demolished them they wouldn't build because they have modified the slots and rezone is the only option. This is hilarious and I had to rise tax rate to 20% so richies stay out of my city before the core of my city is built and they can do whatever they want with their money without bothering the city landscape.

Is there a solution? like a mod or something because this is really getting annoying.

This mod might help alleviate some of the stress..

Besides that, using the taxes is one way, and another is utilizing the "Make Historical" function on most or all of your buildings (at least ones you want to keep from upgrading).

In your case, if you just don't want the block to compile into one R$$$ lot, only make historical one or two buildings in the block. This will allow for some natural upgrading of individual lots without all of them joining together.

My solution against R$$$ mansions in my R$ neighbourhoods is zoning restriction.  Zone only 2 x 1 lots on back to back streets.  You can't get a 4 x 4 lot to support a mansion this way.

Manually destroy those mansions & plant some trees there. I reckon taller building will grow if demand is high enough. It also helps if you rezone that spot so you get 1x2 or 1x3 lot back.

Be careful on how much you restrict the R$$$ though.  Without them, it will be difficult to maintain a balance for your CS$$$, CO$$$, and I-HT demand.  Without the R$$$ the higher wealth commercial and industrial may downgrade to medium wealth or not develop at all.
