Hi been playing sc4 for a little while and after tips how to make these interchanges smaller or better looking or even if there are any other options!

Well, if you haven't got the NAM (Network Add-on Mod), I would certainly suggest you do. It will give you plenty more options for interchanges, which may be more elegant if not smaller.

The image link doesn't work so I don't know exactly how you made that intersection. The problem with custom interchanges is that it takes a lot more space than Maxis interchanges. If you are using RHW you'll notice. You can make those intersections smaller by using narrower roads, you could for example use Real Highway pieces that are 4 lane (2 in each direction) instead of 6, 8 or 10. Another option is to make an intersection that isn't completely accessible. There are certain situations in which it isn't necessary to have a complete intersection. You could use more smooth curves (those are available in the RHW as flex fly and default curves) to make it look better.

 

Building in Real Highway is something that takes some time to learn, I've also started recently and I am learning every time. It has a lot of options.

My quick & dirty (and compact) when I want one ave to slide under another:

Try using RHW for highways instead of avenues. With this, the interchanges are slightly bigger than the MHWs, but a lot more realistic than using those underscaled 6 lane highways. For tutorials on RHW building, click here.

RHW makes my pc ctd for some reason sorted outwith better looking interchanges with raised avenues and raps

Crashing due to the RHW shouldn't happen, because we've not having reports about it that this happens. Are you sure about the following?

- Do you have a legal copy of SimCity 4 and is it properly updated?

- Did you installed the latest version of the NAM? This should be version 31.2.

- Have you selected the RHW component in the NAM installer?

If you can answer all questions with yes, then under what exact conditions did the game crash, ergo what did you do that could trigger the CTD? This is to find out whether it's a common and known game bug or if it's even related to the RHW at all.

1 ) Yes legal US version bought in NZ ( updated to 1.1.60) with IH, spacesport & opera fixes

 

2 ) Believe its 31.1 dont know how to check

 

3) Originally installed everything including SAM, RHW, Canals ETC

 

When installed RHW when i selected it from menu would just ctd ended up that way if if was only thing in plugin folder on blank maps

So gave up and no longer installed!

Make sure you download version 31.2 then. This will contain a lot of fixes and probably, the RHW will work properly again...
