Nice. I am currently making my first BAT too. I'm recreating Fifth Third Center on Nashville. The actual model is already done, I'm just gonna need to add some details (windows, door, etc) and textures.

Nice work! For a first building it is pretty well done, and especially with the use of Sketchup. Props to you for using that as a modeling tool! I even do it myself. ;)

Definitely not bad for your first one. I just wonder what happened to the export itself. Textures will get better as time goes by. Modelling looks good, Lot as well! :)

1: I will never get why people are starting with skyscrapers as their very first building. Do something small but very good and improve your modelling skills to get the full knowledge you will be needing to make the second tallest building in Tennessee as good as some STEX legends!

2: "some details (windows, doors)" ... mh ... Calling windows and doors details is just wrong in my opinion. I don't know how your modelling, how good you are and what you are working with but seriously what you are describing is some fundamental work which should be done to each building in a very early time of modelling progress. If you still need to add them I wonder what you have done already? Posting previews and starting a topic would definitely help

This is absolutely no offense just some tips you should focus on. I might be totally wrong and you a talent just like darn or reddon!?

I believe the blurriness is due to this being a standard definition render viewed at zoom six. ;)

Not terrible at all! This reminds me very, very much of one of those 2x2 residentials from SimCity 2000.

Apart from textures, the biggest problem I see is that everything looks somewhat clunky. The parapet wall around the roof, for example, appears to be well over a metre thick.

I guess you made this one up from your imagination, right? I'm asking because while you will certainly practise modeling techniques this way (and that's good!), one important aspect about making a good BAT is not about which techniques you apply and which shapes you create. It's about how realistic/credible/plausible the final result will look. Often it's a bunch of details that are easily overlooked. Therefore, it's a good idea to pick a simple building and strive to recreate it as best you can. Why? Because you will not only handle the tool and get better at it, but also learn a lot about buildings this way. If you research and look at similar buildings, you will notice things they have in common and details that they share, and you will gain some general awareness of their appearance. Good and thorough observation is a key to making BATs that are not just OK, but really good.

You've made the first step, and you can be proud of it. :) If I were you, I'd use this BAT to practise texturing, and then - with all the routine and skill you've gathered -  move on to a new project. Keep it up, you're doing fine so far!

I would like to add to what (almighty :P) T Wrecks said take time to read through forums, to read tutorials, and try a lot on, not only in houses but in simple objects (I lost count to the number of cubes and simple walls I made to test out ideas and theories). Observe what is prized in the forums, regarded as good and what should be avoided. it takes time, as well the training to became a good bater, (some do it faster, some slower) but eventually you will get there. and you have a decent start, not a jaw breaker, but is no rotten-tomato target either ;)

Continue to explore and show off in your bat thread, here people is already ready to help out :) and welcome in the BAT world by the way :)
