Look in post #15, and decide for yourself.

I would strongly recommend it for all serious players.  Just be sure you get the Rush Hour edition, and not the one for the original game.

Was going to mention the same thing when I read the OP's first comment.

If you've been playing SC4 for some time, is reading thru the guide really worth it? Or will it be a bit redundant to what I probably know by now?

A lot of it is redundant, but I like having the building stats handy and there are some useful data tables.

An occasional reread is often refreshing.  I don't know about anyone else, but I do tend to forget about things I don't use all the time, and this is a very good reference.

Same here.  I occasionally go through it and find some fascinating relationship that I had forgotten, in terms of what affects what else.  And then there are all the tables and charts.

I have gone through the Prima guide several times and still find it useful.  At the very least I will use it as a reference.  Just recently I used the Prima guide to determine what UDI missions I needed to complete to get the Nuclear Power plant for a city that did not meet the requirements.  I would recommend getting it, even for the seasoned player.

The only thing wrong with it is it should have been done like the SimCity 2000 guide by Nick Dargahl and Michael Bremer. Now that was a strategy guide. It was like a novel.
