Hi.

I downloaded some german-style buildings from the STEX to build an historical town, but those lots were only available as growable, and I want to plop them in specifical places.

So, what can I do to make those lots be ploppable?

Thanks.

If those lots have a ploppable version, and half the time they do, you can download that file and put it into your Plugins folder for SC4. Or usually the uploader will include a ploppable version and a growable version in the .zip file. If that's the case, all you need to do is extract the ploppable version's LOT file and model file into the SC4 Plugins folder from the .zip file.

Although, I should note that if the lots you want are residential, then plopping them doesn't work. The game's pathfinding isn't able to recognize the building and it will quickly go abandoned. So downloaded residential lots have go be growable.

Maybe the could work. I haven't tried it but there is a cheat in there. Residential buildings won't work (also mentioned in the link) but the buildings might function as landmarks.

If you want to have them working you could also demolish everything you don't want and if you see the building you like you can make it historical. That is time consuming though. If you do this it is important to know the lot sizes of every building.

You should be able to use the building plop option in extra cheats.

Using BuildingPlop is undoubtedly the easiest way to achieve this. But if you ever wish to create custom ploppable lots, it is possible, but not straightforward.

The PIM-X can create ploppable lots from a model, which are available in the game's landmarks menu. This tool is a more advanced version of the standard Plug-In-Manager, and contains many new and refined features. It's especially useful for custom content creators. Since it's quite complex, be sure to read the user guide which describes how to use its functions -- including how to make ploppables.

The basic procedure is to drag the model to the "Landmark with jobs" category, and create an identical lot size as the original growable. Then using iLive's you'd need to copy the LotConfig Properties from the original, to the newly created lot. There's a guide describing how to do this.

Boy, you guys are keen.  I used to do that when I was still interesting in writing code about 10 years ago.  Being retired removes such incentives.
