Hey guys i wanted to make this post cause some of you who are new will have some trouble, so here are the steps.

 

NOTE : TAKE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK,BECUASE THE GAME MIGHT CRASH! I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE IF THE GAME IS DEAD!

 

Manual instalation

 

when you download it it will come in a winrar archive  folder so to install the mod follow these steps:

 

1.open up the documents folder.

2.open up the simcity 4 folder and then open the plguins folder.

3.open up the mod you downloaded, i will be using LGelectronics1.rar building for SC4

4.After drag and drop the files into the plugins folder.

After you are all set open up the game and search for the mod and it will work!

 

 

Automated Installation

 

When you download it will come in a Exe. file that means it will have a installer, just follow these steps:

 

1.open the mod you downloaded, it will be a .exe file, i will be using the ACB terminals and jetway series 1 part 1

2.after open the exe.

3.after follow the steps and after you are all set!

Well, that's a nice tutorial, but an unlucky choice of demonstration file. Your first example shows a .RAR file, which will require a standalone file packaging application such as WinRAR (seen in your screenshots), 7-Zip, etc. Players who don't have such an application installed will not be able to open the file at all. This is why the use of .RAR files for STEX uploads is discouraged. Windows 7 will be able to open and extract .ZIP files without any external tools, that's why this format is generally used for STEX content.

 

It never ceases to amaze me, but surprisingly many people don't have the slightest idea about ZIP/RAR applications, even though handling compressed archives can be considered a very basic computer task.

I have WinRAR and it automatically converts all ZIP file downloads to RAR files.  So if someone has it, such as the O.P., it's possible to never notice that STEX files normally come as ZIP files.

 

The only major difference is that you have to right click and extract ZIP files anyway.  Not a huge problem.
