We need taller buildings on this game.

While many of our skylines are pretty cool, I can't help but to think we need to go taller in certain cities. For example, every building in the main city I use appears to be about thirty floors which isn't really what I think of when I think "City", I live in Suburban DC and we have buildings of this magnitude scattered around the metropolitan. Therefore I believe we need a higher density option. Buildings up to 70 floors would be cool while also bringing back the BAT.

Another thing I would suggest EA to do is to increase the density of existing $$ and $$$, it doesn't seem too logical that they barely add any residents to our cities. For example, a medium density three level poor building that looks like a NYC building holds about 350 people, while it seems like the $$ high-density towers hold about 800. That's not a big difference considering the building is many times larger than the 350 person building.

I would also appreciate the game giving us the ability to actually zone what will be our downtown district. In this district a new type of zoning would be implemented, mixed zoning which essentially would allow developments to mix hotels, offices, retail, and residential units together.

Also I wish we could implement height limits over certain parts of the city. Sometime I need an streetcar avenue in a certain part of the city but I don't necessarily won't skyscrapers but I don't necessarily want the existing buildings to stay either. If that's confusing, consider you have a streetcar avenue and you see a ugly building along the avenue the game will naturally upgrade the density of the building, but who says you want the density to upgrade solely because the road has increased in lanes and usage?

Here is a list of minor wishes as well:

*The ability to create a central jail and regional prison, I believe this could be beneficial for all mayors.

*The ability to implement ordinances

*More variety of hospitals, schools, and etc.

*The ability to pick the type of the architecture design of your city or maybe even being able to choose how certain districts develope. For example an area could look European if you'd like it to.

*LIMITED-ACCESS HIGHWAYS.

*The possibility to mine for other materials such as gold, silver, etc.

*Correlating to minig for gold, silver, etc one can also place a "Precious Material Exchange" in their city in which mayors from other cities in the region and eventually globally can bid with other mayors for the materials if they want it.

*Central Library that has excellent benefits for residents.

*Expanded University Schools and the ability to create school sports teams as well.

*A City-Council OPTION that brings more realism, for example if you'd like to place too many casinos the game could disapprove it.

*Baseball, Football, Soccer, and Basketball Arenas/Stadiums that DON'T require you to schedule events; but the thing is luring a team to the city. Maybe a certain income threshold or population is how it would come.

*More Seasonal.

*MAKE IT SO THAT WE ACTUALLY MAKE CASH OFF OF OUR METRO AND TRAFFIC SYSTEMS. There's no reason why I shouldn't be making cash off my super-busy street-car system.

*Going back to Casinos, make the possilbity to zone or maybe make an ordinance for Casinos to be allowed so that we don't have to build casinos ourselves anymore BUT it comes with serious repercussions in the crime sector therefore we have the option to own our casinos or allow them to develope like regular businesses in designated zones.

*Military Base Great Works. This could benefit your economy tremendously.

*The possibility of multiple Great Works in one Four City Cluster.

*Added City Expense: Pension Funds.

*More information on average wealth of the city, number of construction projects on-going, and etc.

*The possibility of adding school uniforms to Primary Schools this will reduce crime for the city overtime.

*The need for all schools, not just a university.

*More To Come Soon

SN: All of what I propose would require larger cities first, but if this could be like a 10.0 update it would be well worth the wait. Maxis, if you're reading hire me. Lol

I have to agree with the more than one great work per four city cluster or at least adding road connections between the clusters so that you are able to actually share with the region like advertised.

What about a regional sewage/water treatment facility that on one GW plot covers two needs for the region. I might even pay for that as DLC if it were implemented.

I would also like to see more flexibility with what we are able to do with the roads in the cities like adding tunnels, overpasses and off ramps as an easy to use option (shift click terraforming is easy after practice but is very frustrating).

They could have cared less about what you wanted in this "game" months before its release, the only reason the even started implementing any kind of changes, is because they made enough money selling this broken fiasco, so now they don't have dig in their own pockets to fix it..

This game needs so much more on top of the above which is what makes this scary. EA have realised simcity is a potential cash cow. The only way to save this game is to boycott micro purchases and demand a proper patch or even expansion pack that offers significant value for money. All the above can be done and probably will if this game doesn't die out but unless as consumers we take a stand now we will be paying $10 each time we want a building!

I wish they'd just allow the community to jump in and fix the flaws found in this game. I mean they could provide us the codes to fixing things or provide the tools needed to make the things I proposed above and we'd all be happy. There are some truly talented people that would love to make this game open-source and it would only benefit us all.

^ problem here is that EA own and run the servers and clearly do not want to give control of the game over to the community as a whole.

I agree that this would certainly allow more transparency with the process but I have to wonder if it would actually fix the issues that have been raised (of course no disrespect intended, there are like you say a lot of very talented people here).

I appreciate that the process of fixing the game must be immensely complex and they are trying to communicate this to the community (in the forums etc) but I think they have missed the point that they are dealing with a fan base who, due to their choice of game, like to micromanage. Some of the frustration will be coming from that feeling of being shut out of the process and seemingly ignored by the people running the show (which I suspect is not the case).

Perhaps we would feel a bit better if they issued a weekly update about what they are doing, whilst issuing some feedback to the main problems people are facing.

Even if it was a simple "hey, you know what, the maps could be bigger but we feel it is better to fix the gameplay issues first and then up the size" or "thanks for your idea on abc they are great but cannot be done because of xyz".

I think they could do with adding this in as part of a global news feed in game. At least that way it would stop them getting spammed with offline play requests!

Fix the stuff that's supposed to work before making more broken stuff.  I can see myself paying for DLC but only after the major issues that are making the game unplayble for me are fixed.

They seem to have made a quick work for that on 6.0

    http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/9543476.page

    • New: RCI height variations for Density 3 Buildings. This will add more variety to the look of your cities.

But yeah, this game is really missing some really tall buildings.
