Lmao!!!! I don't know if there is a translator or not but that is how the sims talk. Haven't you ever played The Sims before? My favorite is when a female sim is leaving and says, "Awe, tu-tu." it actually almost sounds Norwigen to me, but since I don't speak Norwigen I can't say for sure. I think it's just simanese!!! :D

Man, I wouldn't have thought to read something like this in 2013. :D Kinda makes me wanna dust off the old Sims discs and give those games a whirl again...

Oh and no, the microphone isn't a complete waste. It shows those thought bubbles above the sim you click on, those give you some indication of what's going down, althought I'd rely on graphs more than that.

Adding the Sims to SC4 just eliminated the implementation of some features we'd all like to have had.  UDI made things even worse.  The whole The Sims thing was a marketing ploy for The Sims, and it worked rather well to the detriment of the developed city simulation.

You may not be able to understand what the Sim is saying, but you can certainly tell what their tone of voice is telling you.

I have been playing the Sims for so long I am pretty sure I understand everything they say:) and yes, their tone can be very telling. When I play the Sims, I can definitely tell if they are happy, sad or angry.

I guess I just get too much into just building and planning and ignore sims outside of pop/demand :/

I like the way they talk, but this could be because I have been playing some variety of the Sims for the last 13 years. It's addictive.

One of the things I do when I install a new game is examine it closely:

First, I examine where it is in my files hierarchy.  I also have a look at the pseudo-registry if it is a Windows game.

Then I read as much documentation as makes sense before I start the game so that I am not at a "what now" position when it starts.

Then, while playing, I explore every item in the GUI, if it has one.

Knowing your program is always good.

    Sims in Simcity?Blah....

First you set them to move into an $-area you are curious to know more about, and as soon as you unpause, your sims has "flipped his last burger", moved into a $$-area and moving out of there (before the moving company is even able to arrive) as an an educated sim, living in a top notch $$$-area without crime, trafficproblems or anything else of interesest. All in a blink of an eye, your sim is just being a a bothersome annoying noisance demanding a local school, even if that sim works as CEO at the next corner High Scool...WICH TRAFFIC PROBLEMS ARE YOU TALKIN ABOUT, MAN????

If your Sims are reacting too quick for you, try turtle mode.

Uhm, actually I am running in turtle mode.  It's the MySim-mode wich is broken and completely useless...

I never run the My-Sim mode except for an occasional diagnostic, which I no longer need.  First thing I do when I start a city is turn it off.    My Sim was an insertion in Rush Hour probably fomented by EAs marketing group in order to make The Sims a more palatable product.  Pfui.

Goodness, I hope not.  These things have to be carefully thought out.

I sense a new poll being started...

    Options:

    1. I never cared that they could speak.

    2. I always hoped that my sims could speak.

    3. I always knew that my sims could speak.

    4. What do you mean they speak gibberish? I spend my days speaking with them...

    5. I have sims?! In my computer?!! I... just... what..?!!!
