All Trade Trucks are Gone!

So...

There I am with my mining city going full tilt and I start construction on my international airport.  So I go to the GW and turn on both alloy and metal to get the transfer going. I go back to my city and turn my exports to "use locally" and sit back to watch the GW gro.

It gets about half way to filling the bar when I start getting messages that alloy and metal are "stalled" at the GW.

I'm confused...

I check to make sure my trade depots and ports are set correctly and everything is fine.

I turn on the view so I can watch my trucks going back and forth and notice I only have about 6 trucks doing anything on the map and that most of my smelters are asking for ore and coal.

So I turn off all my mines, trade depots / ports, and all my smelters and I watch to see which ones actually have trucks in their garages.

All the trade facilities have no trucks.  I shut down and restarted the game and still no joy.  No trucks.

Kind of makes it hard to play a game when bugs of this magnitude are still there after months of bug fixing.  You would think they could have gotten around to fixing the missing truck bug by now as it is game breaking.  I have no trade now in a city that can't survive without it.

Got to say... I used to be a supporter and was waiting patiently however... No more.  I've gone over to the dark side.  I want to like this game but ever time I start a new region and get my cities up to speed they fail due to game breaking bugs.

To name a few...

#1 No trucks bug - Game breaking - Stops all trade.

#2 Recycle and or garbage trucks that go in circles - Game breaking - Causes garbage to kill your city.

#3 Gifting cash bug - Annoying - Loose cash you gift to other cities randomly.  Seems to be due to traffic and town hall placement.

#4 Tourists bug - Game breaking - All tourists stop coming to your city randomly and your city dies.  I've had multiple flourishing cities die after logging in and doing nothing.  At the last login they are booming, re-log and they die.

I could go on but those are the three making my SimCity life miserable.

The invention of beer and the wheel were the foundation of modern civilization & together were the catalyst that split humanity into two distinct subgroups: liberals & conservatives. Some men spent their days tracking & killing animals to B-B-Q at night while they were drinking beer. These men were called "conservatives". Other men who were weaker & less skilled at hunting learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly B-B-Q's & doing the sewing, fetching & hair dressing. They were called "progressives".

Well said!! A few thoughts. I have been playing SC for many many years. I understand technology. I understand business. From my own humble opinion:

1. The premise and idea of SC 13 is fabulous.

2. I early development was a great foundation.

3. The execution of the game, well....not so good.

Now the reality. The collective "we" have a game with the great potential. I won't listen to any other opinion. You can be pissed about this and that, but we all know the problem. Whats the solution. What we have is an elephant sized list of issues. What we need is to do what i do everyday in business:

Ask yourself the question. How do you eat an elephant?

One Bite at A Time!

I hope the guys around the table take a breath and start eating one bite at a time. I for one don't expect all issues to be fixed by July 1. I believe this game is one for the ages. A little rushed out to market, but still. The graphics, the basic game-play, the thought process needed, the challenge and of course the fun. Never before have we had the potential game to be what SImCity 2013 can and hopefully will be. Yes we spent $60 for a disappointing game, but some of use bought two copies (one for my son) so even at $120 i want to believe that each day we will be closer to being stuffed with Elephant meat!

They are making progress with terrific suggestions from all of the gamers and yes, even taking three steps forward and two back sometimes can piss me off more than ever. But what Maxis conjured up and created was never done before in the scale that this game is. So many things depend on so many things and this wont happen till this happens. You all know the drill. Technology is wonderful and in this day and age we can have anything we want if someone can imagine it and of course, have someone to pay for it. No doubt we deserve a "perfect" game. In reality, perfect doesn't exist. Larger maps, trade fixes, gift fixes, all of them will be done. Don't bash the product till the white flag is raised. I can't believe Maxis wants a failure. Blame the business side if blame is needed. EA certainly dropped the ball on this one. Rush to market. Recoup investment. In hindsight, they (EA) should have be honest and said "we are not ready". I know, its easy to be a Monday morning QB.

I don't like trade not working. I don't like traffic issues. I don't want to wait an hour of real time for a gift from my neighbor. But what i don't want is giving up. So, everyone keep trying, keep playing, keep critiquing positively, and let's all sit down for a nice dinner. Remember:

Its all about the elephant.

I could go on but those are the three making my SimCity life miserable.

#1-  I have never experienced the "no trucks" on any trading in any region... Trade works fine and seems to be for the majority of people

#2- You do not need to recycle...    Garbage works fine if you have a good road system.  Mine work fine fully upgraded with 250k+ populations.

#3- I have never lost a money gift.  Try placing the town hall on a road easily accessible from the main entrance of the grid.

#4- Now this... You might be on to something.  I think tourism really depends on the right balance of activities between the wealth classes.  Also, proper lodging.. and once again... the art to this game really... A FLUID ROAD DESIGN mixed with a transportation hub.

I have over 250 hours played.  Proof of all of this beyond my own experiences?  Look at the leaderboards...  Tourism cities making 15 million plus...  And let's not even get started on the electronics cities.

Two questions.  What gamespeed do you play on?   Can you post a picture of your "no trucks" trading industry?

#! - Missing trucks has always been a problem since the start of this game.

#2 Saying I don't need to recycle so it's not a problem is being blind to the issue.

#3 Yes, traffic, number of intersections along the path, and placement of the town hall is also part of the problem.  It's still broken.

    #4 Yes, I know I'm correct that it's a problem.

The no trucks bug has to do with the great works. It only happened when I was sending alloy and metal to the GW.  I have also played since day one and only experience sporadic truck losses.  This is the first time I have seen a mass exodus of trucks..

I verified it by turning off all buildings with trucks and I waited until all trucks were gone from the streets. I then went through and counted the empty garages.  All the trade buildings had no trucks in them.  One or two other buildings (mines, smelters) were also missing a truck or two.  I turned them all back on and waited an hour and turned them back off and checked again.  Same story.  The trucks were just gone.

I did find that I could go through and delete the individual empty garages and re-plop them to get the trucks back.  However I continued to loose trucks as I delivered alloy and metal to the GW.  I had to continue to replace trucks to keep my fleet going.

There is another problem with trade trucks.  If you have three of four trade depots and turn one or two off, you will notice that your trucks will go to the first trade depot even if it is off and remove or place materials there based on their original instructions.  This works the same for depots with differing instructions.  Trucks from one trade depot will return to another trade depot.  So lets say you have one trade depot on use local and another on export for the same material.  The use local truck will return to the export depot instead of the use local depot if the export depot is higher in its internal list.  Then if the export depot has metal or alloy to sell the truck will just pick up a load there instead of going back to the use local depot.  If you have a lot of work in the export depot ALL your trucks will work there instead of going back to the use local depot and that depot will NEVER get anything done.

Also, if you have six or ten smelters you will find that your trucks delivering ore to them will always go to the first in line and work their way down toward the last smelter.  This causes the last smelters on the list to almost always fail to get ore for operation.  I added four or five trade depots next to the offending smelters and they would still not get ore even though all the trade depots were full of ore.  This seems to be caused by the way the notifications happen.  The smelter will send out an invisible notification when it needs ore however the notification will do the usual random turns at intersections and this will cause the mines and trade depots to get the notification really late or even not at all if there are several intersections along the way.

Vehicle movement is just broken.  I can't understand why they have not fixed it in the months they have been live.  I'm tending toward believing it's an issue core to the engine and may need a significant rewrite of the core engine to fix.  They put in a couple of vehicle fixes targeted toward fire trucks a month or so back.  I guess they are just hacking in a fix for specific vehicle types and not going for the overall rewrite the vehicle code needs.

And yes, I was really pissed of when I penned this post.  And no, I have not quit even though I said I was through.  I went back in today and found a work around for the missing trucks bug and got my GW built.

I've had ALL trade trucks disappear too once starting to supply a GW. Not just the trucks that visit the GW, but every single one in my city. And even before this happened imports just sat in depots not being transfered to empty buildings that desperately needed them. I've found having more than one trade depot/port starts to cause some problems, though having one limits the materials you can import/export.

I too believe this game will become great if it's fixed. So far every city I've started has died because of some bug, mostly due to the loss of all trade trucks or the "no shops, no shoppers" problem. The latter I put down to bad traffic, whereby sims are unable to locate the shops next to them, which are closing because they have no business.

And the map size...it's so depressingly small I want to cry!

    Poor fans! lol

You see, GW sites never worked smooth, got no sync with cities and sometimes it fails to 'receive' the proper amount of materials. Almost like the it was run by a brazilian logistic company! lol

Maybe thats the reason your trucks are gone! Try to wait one or 2 days or REAL time and check if the trucks are back (let some cheetah speed flow for a while).

I had an issue like this, anda after some days RL I had all my resources SYNC with gret works and my trucks started to reappear.

And btw, when you start to send trucks to gw, you'll get almost no resources for your city/electronics plants/ etc... you can count on that.

And I know this topic ain't about it but, It's never enough to say that this 'agent' thing is so broken thats the main cause of all of this issue...

I've got so tired to see buses pick up passenger randomly and hijacking those guys for hours and running around in circles through the city... it was funny to see ppl in despair at first... now i'm just bored...

Post 4.0 my trade trucks are gone.

Seems that when they patch the game to fix issue A, the so called fix causes issues B, C, and D.

I get that they rushed the game so it's going to take a while but I'd rather wait a few more weeks for a real fix than

get these patches that cause more problems than they fix.

Why can't they just do it right the first time?

One thing I've noticed is sometimes the trucks end up going to a neighboring town exit rather than straight to the GW and disappearing for several days game time. usually i have to cycle through a few cities (load it, speed up time, then load another city, repeat this across several cities).

Sometimes I exit the game for an hour then come back and load up again and it is fixed.

it sounds like the pledging bug that should be fixed for at least recycling and garbage in 5.0 release.

I did find out that deleting the garage for individual lost trucks WILL bring a new truck in.  And I don't seem to be loosing trucks unless I start work on a GW.  Then my trucks go nuts and I have to constantly replace them to keep the city running.  After the GW work is complete I close everything down and replace all trucks that are missing.  Then restart services and I seem to be ok after that.

Hmmm... Well this is not restricted to building a GW.  I just had about two thirds of my trucks vanish in a city that was alone in a region with no GW.

I'm having a hard time playing these days with all the problems with industry and tourists...

Trade trucks don't deliver ore to smelters.

Trade trucks don't deliver plastics to factories.

Trains don't ever arrive at Trade Port Train stations.

    Trade trucks vanish.

Tourists either don't come at all or they come for a while then stop or they come in droves to a city that doesn't want them.

I now have a repro for vanishing trucks and / or bad trade trucks bugs....

Find a city with lots of Ore, Coal, Water, and train access.  Build two each Mines for Ore and Coal with all the trucks and Mining upgrades.  Build two Trade Depots, buy all the trucks for them too, and set both to export both Ore and Coal, two slots each on each Trade Depot.  Wait for the Mining HQ.  Build it.  Wait for the Smelter upgrade and build it.  Then build 6 Smelters all in a row with all the trucks, one Metal, and two Allow upgrades.  This will give you two each Metal and Alloy upgrades on each Smelter as the Smelter comes with one Metal upgrade. Add Alloy and Metal exports to one of your Trade Depots and remove it's Ore and Coal exports.  Set the other to "use local" for Ore and Coal.  Wait for the Trade HQ and build it.  Wait for the Metals upgrade and build it.  Now destroy your Trade Depots and build two Trade Ports WITH Train Stations and set one to exporting Alloy and Metal, 3 slots each, and the other to "use local" for Ore and Coal, three slots each.  Also buy all the trucks for each Trade Port.  Just destroy the Freight slot on each Trade Port, you don't need it. If your Mines run out switch your Coal and Ore Trade Port to "import".

Set to Cheetah speed and wait.  Right away you will notice your Smelters will run out of Ore and not get refilled very often because your Trade Trucks are traveling all over the region for some reason instead of using the Train Station of your Trade Port to sell and buy.  The trucks seem to be selling and buying instead of delivering goods, or maybe they are just joy riding, I have know idea.  They will however always seem to get enough Coal to your Smelters.  Maybe it's a union thing?  After a while you will also start to notice that your Smelters and Mines are all jammed up with product.  They will start to shut down due to being full.  That's because your Trade Trucks are vanishing and nobody is delivering anything any more.  That's definitely a union thing.

They do disappear.... but if you speed game time up to the fastest, and watch for them, I always see them come back, it just happens that most of the time they are stuck in traffic trying to come back in.

The fix to the disappearing trade trucks is to demo the garages and rebuild them. I've had to do this multiple times before, due to the disappearing truck bug. Essentially, you need to keep an eye on your trade trucks to make sure they're working properly.
