Future plans for Ordinaces

Among all the other things that need to be fixed in the game, are there any future plans on adding Ordances back to the game?  That was a real kicker in SimCity 4,   As much as we all paid for the game the least we can do is either be able to mod them into the game, or EA get off their high retarded horse and listen up.  Larger Cities is the #1 priority, but they should have everything from SimCity 4 and then some.  Which includes city ordinances and alot of other things.  The missions were pretty fun too, maybe they should just come out with a HD revamp of SimCity 4, and then I'll be satisfied....

I disagree.

Simcity 4 was missing buildings and features that Simcity 3000U had.

Hell Simcity 3000U even had the "Create your own building" tool.

Simcity 3000U was missing features and buildings that Simcity 2000 had, especially the futuristic buidlings, Arcologies, City council and online multiplayer parts.

Simcity 2000 was the only Simcity game to retain all the features and buildings of the previous game.

I also don't miss ordinances.

Lastly Simcity 4: Glass Box version wouldn't sell enough to break even, hell Simcity 4 barely broke even to this day.

I wouldn't mind bigger map for Simcity 2013, but I'm not entitled to them.

I feel entitled to larger maps considering that I paid $79.00 for this game that doesn't feature much more than the original version. I would like to see ordinances again because they could make or break my cities, ie having a mandatory recycling law would make everyone recycle boosting my revenues but also making me need more recycling facilities.

To EA's defense they did list the difference between the versions.

The deluxe version was pretty much made for those who wanted the foreign building sets.

With that said the main perk of the Deluxe are:

  • British buses are double decker and hold ~120 sims compared to the 80 sims of normal buses
  • German Trains are high speed trains which much faster than the normal trains
  • The French Police cars are supposed to be faster than the normal police cars
  • Some claim the Euro sims recycle more than the American sims
  • Some claim the Euro sims prefer mass transit

I plan to buy the upgrade pack, so I can get the foreign building sets and the British Buses (having double decker buses would do my cities good).

I've already logged ~80 hours for a game that cost me $60, thus I got my money's worth.

I also think it would be interesting for Maxis to bring back the city credit rating system from Simcity 2000.

The higher your rating, the lower the interest rate on bonds and the lower the bond payments.

it was based on the real life system.

Xenocity I get the feeling you may have something to do with ea. your continuous defending of a broken game and condescending tone are typical actions of a troll.

I am neither an EA employee or a troll.

I have played every Maxis made Simcity at launch.

To date only Simcity 3000U was problem free!

Take away all the mods and Simcity 4 is just as broken as Simcity 2013 was at launch.

The only difference here is Maxis has actually made the effort to fix the game instead of abandoning it like Simcity 4.

Nostalgia clouds the mind ;)

Simcity 2013 is fundamentally flawed in its design, something that Maxis has already come out and said they aren't fixing.

Simcity 4 has many patches for both the vanilla and deluxe versions. While still kind of buggy, it is still a lot better than it was at launch, and still way better without mods than SC2013.

Simcity 4 only has 3 major patches total (including the Rush Hour Patch).

Simcity 4 is barely playable without NAM because of the traffic part not working right.

Simcity 2013 will only get better as they keep patching and modifying the game.

I'm not claiming Simcity 2013 will be the best game in the series, but by the end of the year the game will be signficantly better.

Simcity 2013 if anything is the direct successor to Simcity 2000: Network Edition.

Yes I have bought Simcity 4, 4 times thanks to the deluxe version, Simcity Box and Steam.

I have also logged several hundred hours over the past decade plaing Simcity 4.

I'd actually prefer Maxis gave us a Simcity that took after Simcity 2000.

I keep hearing how simcity 4 needs the mods. Fair enough.

But where does simcity 2013 stand with the ability to mod?

And when was sc4 hamstrung with the always drm requiement?

Sc4s modability and the lack of drm are what makes it a living and breathing game.

Maxis didn't open Simcity 4 up until 2007 (4 years after the game original release).

Maxis claims Simcity 2013 was built to be modable, but they aren't ready to allow it yet.

Maxis could easily issue a patch to remove the DRM in the future,

Many major PC developers including Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, Activision-Blizzard, Epic Games use very strict DRM including always on for their software (it is not just for games anymore).

DRM is only going to get worse as companies try to prevnet piracy and game sharing.

You could easily share Simcity 4 with your friends instead of having everyone buying their own copy (All you need to run the game after installing it was certain files from the disc).
