Serious Train Delays

Hello Forum,

 

So I have a regional population of over 225K and an arcology.  My problem is that I have large delay times.  I have at least 3 train stations in each city, but my average wait time is over 500 minutes. In one city it's as long as 1,200?  Does anyone have any ideas on what may be causing this?

My airport once had a wait time of 18,000 minutes, which translates neatly to 12 and a half days.

The problem may be too many train stations!  I ran into this myself.  Each station you place puts another train on the tracks, so a region with several cities, each with several train stations, means a lot of trains sharing the tracks.  Which leads to train traffic jams (I am not kidding), your trains might be getting stuck somewhere in a train traffic jam, causing huge delays.  Given what you said, I am willing to bet this is the problem (and its a bug if you ask me).

I have 4 train stations in my gambling city, and since the patch the station closest to the regional intake is getting 75% of the train and the other stations are seeing the remaining fraction. 

 

I have taken to putting bus depots near the areas where I wanted the trains to serve, but still overall... this is pretty broken.

I used to have an issue with my trains all parked in a row yet I still had a few passengers but just a few. I have a picture somewhere

Your train lines should not cross more than couple (but 1 road per 1/4 of the total trainline length)  roads, and never the main highway. 

As long as you follow that simple rule, there are going to be no issues. Where you have space, build sidings, to double the capacity.

Yet again, Simcity stymes us by not having overpasses and underpasses.

Thanks for the advice. I'll review my region when the servers return and I'll let you know the results. My gambling cities are falling apart as a result of the train delays.
