Landmark vs ploppable w/jobs

As I download many of the custom content buildings and whatnot, I notice most come with landmark versions.  So I'm wondering how others do it, do you prefer working buildings ie. buildings with jobs, or do you prefer the LM versions just to make the city look pretty?  I usually use the ones with jobs, but I hate when the demand gets low, and the building starts looking dirty or gets abandoned.  I'm beginning to think it might be better to put the LM versions so the city still looks pretty.  So please let me know what y-all do or have to say about the subject.

Ploppable R's do not connect properly to the pathfinder and will always abandon, so they should be avoided.  Other than that, when you plop a C or I building, take time to allow the game to adjust to the unexpected injection of resources.

I'm sorry yeah I didn't mean R. I let them grow naturally. I read that plopping R doesn't work anyway.

I do allow for the injection of resources sink in, however sometimes I may plop a building down as say several are growing, then suddenly I have a negative demand for what I really want there. Yet I don't want to make a just eye candy city so I'm kind of torn.

I try to use a bit of both, striking a balance between aesthetics and functionality. When deciding to plop a functional building, timing is important. Because functional ploppables aren't available in the standard game, they do require a fair bit of trial and error. If the building has capacity higher than the current demand (for that stage / developer type), it will run into demand issues later on. In a way, it's a bit like an investment. Checking the RCI demand graph can help to determine the risk. But it's always vital to allow for fluctuations -- both in the natural simulation, and the effects of plopping the buildings. I'd recommend doing it in small stages, closely observing any major changes to the RCI graph.

Once the simulation adjusts to the new buildings, things should then hopefully balance out.

I don't see why one would have to "choose" the one or the other. They are two totally different kinds of lots, and you may want to use either or both. Landmarks cost you a monthly upkeep and provide a "Landmark Effect", like plazzas. They also typically provide no jobs, although one can make a landmark with jobs, and some civic buildings, like the Bureau of Bureaucracy do have civic jobs and a landmark effect as well. Civic jobs do not affect directly demand of any type, but you will get some additional CS demand, caused by the increased population (as a result of the civic jobs), only this will happen after the extra sims flock in. On the other hand, RCI ploppables (well, C only, as R always abandon, and Ind marginally work) are just like ordinary C buildings (if properly modded), ie they pay monthly taxes, provide C jobs but do "satisfy" (eat up) C demand, as growable C buildings do. The only difference is that you have to plop them. I don't use them at all, because I prefer their growable version, and the reason is that if you have CO demand (created by the presence and availability of highly-educated workforce), it should not be too hard to turn it to growth (after a medium/large C building grows, demand will be reduced, of course). And I'm not sure how ploppable C lots affect the simulator, as far as the growth stages mix vs city size is concerned (eg are they count in or not, and how), as many modders set their Growth Stage to 15 (to keep it from growing), so I have opted to not using them,

When I plop an active C or I building, I generally do it for aesthetic reasons without regard for the demand situation.  However, I am also willing to take the lumps that go with this.  The stuff I drop in is usually small.  I avoid monstrous C$$$ plops because they skew the game for too long.
