Well, that might be true for the WWII monument in Volgograd..but in Ilitj, capital of the Socialist State of Rodina, the statue was built to commemorate the socialist revolution.

I will, when time permits, tell the whole background story of the monument.

ILITJ (Reuters) - An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale struck central

Rodina on Monday. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

The quake woke residents in the nearby cities Nova Gora and Sosjin. Rodina is seldom

rattled by earthquakes, and serious damage is very rare.

Officials said the epicenter of the quake was near the town of Pokrovskoje in the

    Rodinian highlands.

Seismologists said the quake was rather shallow but could have caused more damage if it

    had struck populated areas.

"There was no real panic even though small items fell in households," said the deputy

mayor of Pokrovskoje, Vladimir Paklin, "luckily there was no serious damage and

    everything is normal now.

Rodinian media said they had received calls from people who felt the quake in several

towns, mainly in the central highlands.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Sources say Pentagon is “deeply concerned” about the recent reports of earthquakes

in Rodina. Rumours of villages being evacuated before the first quake have raised suspicions.

Hmmm.... Is Rodina a signatory of the nuclear testing moratorium? Just wondering.

Perhaps it is a good time for Rodina's neighbors to review air-quality testing parameters.

Let no one yield, we're on the field where deeds eclipse the sun; where the brave are told on a thread of gold, the tapestry is spun. As they speak of dreams, their armor gleams, this calm before the storm... Where all can see their destiny, the bishop takes the pawn.

To remain an independent nation in a world ruled by imperialism and western decadence The Socialist State of Rodina has not signed the nuclear test moratorium.

It is believed that shortly before the collapse of the Soviet Union some nuclear missiles and warheads were moved into Rodina from nearby Russian and Ukrainian storages, but this has never been confirmed.

    Rodinian nuclear test site?

    WASHINGTON
(AP) - Pentagon today released a satellite image of what is said
to be the location of the two "earthquakes" that hit central Rodina on the 8th and 9th
    of this month.
The craters in the picture look somewhat similar to those seen at American
underground nuclear test sites (see below).

"If this is what it clearly seems to be, we might have a very serious and unexpected
situation in the Black Sea region", a Pentagon source said.
The White House has yet to comment on the matter.
