Alternate Power Source

Why is that SimCity has opted not to use hydro power? Meaning have dams etc. Everything else is available. Solar coal etc. but one clean source of power is not available or am I missing something?

The standard options in Simcity 4 are very limited. EA didn't want to spend too much money when they made the game I guess. There are very few options available in the game as it is. I don't know whether you've patched the game and installed NAM but that is a very good option. There are a lot of options available on the STEX if you want to build a dam.

For hydro plants it's primarily the lack of variable water levels. SC2K did this by treating lots, networks and surface water as similar objects, AFAIK...

Search the STEX...hydroelectric plants are available:

 

 

 

 

 

 

Plus, the solar and hydrogen power plants in the game are considered clean.

And I made a Tokamak plant years ago.

 

 

which needs more water than you can imagine, so

 

 

This plant also eats pollution over a full large tile.

 

Oh, and the reason there is no hydro is that there is only one water table at sea level.
