Crash after quiting SC4

Playing with Simcity 4 works fine, I can scroll without crashing all the time and my computer loads the buildings just fine. The problem is that my computer crashes when I quit (doesn't matter whether I save and quit or just quit). After the crash I get the blue screen of death and my computer reboots, after the reboot my computer functions normally.

I run Simcity 4 on a Pentium 4 (3,2Ghz) with 1GB RAM and a Nvidea graphics card with 128MB memory. I run SC4 software rendered (because of the slow GPU of my graphics card, I don't know exactly how fast that is).

Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Can you tell us which version of simcity.exe you have currently? If you got all the updates is should say a version of 1.1.638.0 or higher...

If its not, then i suggest to get all the updates....

If you are running with NAM V31 this is a known problem.  Fixed on V31.1 which should be available soon.

I have the Simcity.exe patched with the newest update, so that shouldn't be a problem. I am running NAM 31 though, so that's probably the problem. I will wait for the update of NAM and fix it then.

    Thanks!

To check if NAM v31 is the problem, try running the game without plugins.

This can be done by simply renaming your plugins folder (e.g. to "Plugins.OLD"). Then once starting the game, a new empty plugins folder will be created and loaded -- saving the need to transfer the contents. After testing a few times, if no crashes occur, then NAM v31 will be the likely culprit (or another plugin).

If you're running Windows, a workaround could be to force close SC4 using the task manager. Once you've saved your city, press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open task manager. The game will be immediately minimised and you'll be returned to the desktop. Then go to the 'Applications' tab, find SimCity 4 and press End Task > End Now.

Alternatively, you could end the SimCity 4.exe process from the 'Processes' tab.

This won't harm the game, and no data will be lost if you save prior to closing.

Or you can do an internal save which usually works (for me), then exit without saving from the exit menu.
