Unemployed commuters ?

Well I seem to have a traffic problem that is caused by too many commuters coming in for work from the surrounding cities.

My city details list a problem that should just be able to go away on its own, or one would think anyway.

Low Wealth Workers: 3052

Low Wealth Jobs: 13,188

Low Wealth Workers Commuting: 34,000

As you can see, I have about 24,000 workers coming in that just cant find work. I was expecting that they would eventually level out once the commuters figured out that I dont have that many jobs available. Are they coming in and driving around only to leave and drive through the next city?

My brother is the mayor of the other cities in the region, so I told him to check out his details and see what he can do. Maybe I need to create a job city packed full of industry.

Did you build the arcology great work? The same thing has happened to me the two times I built it, it made the cities basicly unplayable.  I havnt built it in any future regions.

lol, I think your brother needs to add more jobs to his cities if he has 24k workers commuting out, but commuters can be a problem like in your case, I had a worse problem before, the commuters were taking all the jobs of my city workers and I started to get unemployed people in my city and houses started to go abandoned cause they couldn't find jobs to work at, look at the RCI demand, the light colors are the demand for your city and the dark colors are the demand of the region (in case you didn't know that) so maybe you need to add more people or jobs to your city to stop them from commuting in

exactly to me. im getting +300k commuters when I had only a pop of 10k, everything is just blocked up with traffic or people walking around looking for a job.

 

now im trying to work out how to destroy one

I've slowly been increasing the land value to where I have less and less low wealth workers. If I eliminate all the low wealth then I'll be putting myself at risk for not having enough workers when/if he does something about his cities.

Medium Wealth Commuters: 0

High Wealth Commuters: 1 LMAO!

No Arcology anywhere in the region. We're building one in the opposite corner of the region but it's not connected via roads to this city, and also, not completed..
