Sim City advice - Radiation disaster

Hey guys, im just looking for advice on my city. Basically, ive never played any sim city game before and now have a problem that im not sure how to tackle

My city was going fine until there was an Earthquake which actually destroyed my nuclear power plant and left an ungodly amount of radiation

My population fell from 260,000 to under 40,000 in less than 10 seconds. Even when buildings return they are becoming abandoned at a quicker rate than i can even bulldoze

what i want to know is what i should do. Will this radiation go away ever? Weirdly, due to my processing factories, trade HQ, airport etc, im still making about 100,000 simoleons an hour (although the figure at the bottom says a deficit of $50,000 but i guess that doesn't take into account trade and tourism and stuff) and i have a decent reserve of $1.5 million.

But residential seems futile, is it possible to build like a casino city or something until the radiation dissipates? Or is there any kind of quick fix?

Thanks for any advice

run for the hills!

lol, sorry but might as well wait days in real time on as fast as the game can go or abandon the city for someone else to deal with if anyone does, but apparently from that twitter link, planting trees speed up the process, bulldoze all buildings effected by the radiation and plant trees there until it goes away, your city will just look like a giant park for a long time and get rid of the nuclear plant! you don't need any more radiation in your city

Edit: I was just corrected in another topic, trees take the ground pollution away from your city that the radiation converts into when it goes away

Just run the city until you get bored.  Transfer the money to a fresh canvas and avoid nuclear power.  Probably not worth the time waiting it out.

Hang on, tourists are still visiting your irradiated municipal wasteland? Gotta love the simulation detail I guess.

If you are still making profit you could just leave the game running in a small window overnight/week until it goes away.
