How do you flatten land without doing it square by square?

I know you can use a road and just dot the land square by square to make it even. But is there a way to flatten land quicker? I am trying to lay some avenues down but it is looking kinda bumpy. I seen a video on youtube few days ago where the guy laid down two rail roads along side the road to make the land flat but it isnt working when I do it.

Anyone know how to flatten land?

Here is what I am talking about. 8617719234_af6f57aeb3_b.jpg

there's a download that you can use to flatten multiple tiles at once....i think it's called the PEG CDK leveler or something, it's on the STEX here.

Not an expert in this area but you can use the "flatten/level" tool in the menu with the shovel and tree. Change the radius by holding Shift-with numbers on keyboard from 1-3 or 4 I think.

>>Hold down CRTL + SHIFT + ALT

>>Click on God Mode

>>Use the free terraforming tools

The one that says "Quick Level Brush" will flatten the land.

Control its size by hitting SHIFT + 1-9, and control the strength with SHIFT + F1-F10

Or you can use the Mayor Mode equivalents if you don't like cheating (but they cost money).  They can be found under that green button above the zoning button.

If you want smooth slopes under your roads, download a "slope mod" off the STEX.

There is no quick level brush in God mode. You mean the plains?

Make sure you're holding down Control, Shift, and Alt when you click on God Mode to get the full set tools (normally they disappear after you incorporate your city).

It should be under the terrain brushes.  There's a section for hills, valleys, and flattening.  One of the ones under 'flatten' should say Quick Level Brush.

Ok thank you, I think this will work. I didn't think that was to flatten land, always thought it was to make plateau lol.

That's what the Plateau button is for  :D

Also, you'll find that placing single road tiles gives you a lot more control in tight situations.  But make sure you're using them efficiently---since they level all four corners of the tile they're placed on, you can place them in a checkerboard pattern, like so:

Sorry to ask so many questions. But is there a way to remove these?

Still the same problem. I guess I will have to terraform the land more even.

Those are the underwater shoring of the walkway.  Your water isn't quite deep enough.  Try taking it down an additional metre.  This is tricky, so do a save before you start and set the mayor mode dig tool using SHIFT+1+F1

I find the Roads method seems to work better then God mode /leveling tools.

Road bits work very well when the grade is not too drastic, but for cliff type ledges, they can stop working.  Also, you cant roads under water.  Zooming in 2nd from the closest and using Shift +1 on the quick plains tool works great for cliffs and underwater.  At that level you can control 1/4 of 1 square, so you can make very detail topography.  You can also go into water pollution mode and it makes it even easier to work under water.  That's how I run my FLUPS under water or power relay islands.
