Not enough places to ship freight?

I'm confused here. I have industry that keeps opening up, then closing shop because there aren't enough places to ship freight...  but they're directly across the street from the trade port.  https://www.dropbox.com/s/ox50exs61xzj8l1/Spark_2013-03-28_23-41-26.png

There is available freight capacity at all trade depots and trade ports. All facilities have all of the trucks they can have.

Ideas?

I think that the industries ship to the commercial districts.  Only the city specializations like oil and mining use the trade depots.  You probably need more commercial or a better road system to keep your industry happy.

same here... it seems to me that there should be enough commercial zones in town (or in neighbor cities linked to your industrial one) to create freight demand... not sure, though...

I will ship freight to C, trade depots/ports/airports, some industrial specialization buildings, some service buildings and some landmarks. Industrial demand, as represented by your RCI bar and your advisors, does depend on unfilled freight orders, which is a number that is affected by C zoning, but that doesn't really mean anything, since C will have its goods restocked at the beginning of each shift regardless of whether you have I zoned anywhere in the city or the region.

I makes its profit by shipping freight -- it's the most important determining factor for whether I will increase density, contribute to taxes, etc. The easiest way to satisfy this need is to place a trade depot with a freight module nearby, which is exactly what the OP seems to have done.

I should be sending a delivery truck to the trade depot every hour -- so long as the truck makes it back within an hour, the factory can send out the next truck, and so on. For this to work, the trade depot does not need to have any trucks of its own -- those are for the trade depot's local deliveries (such as to your coal plant or processor factory). Freight will magically be teleported from your trade depot at regular intervals -- no trucks needed for that.

Occasionally, factories will bug out and not sent out its trucks. More often, you may find that the truck takes longer than an hour to do its back and forth, in which case the factory will wait an extra hour before sending out the next truck. If this happens frequently, the number of deliveries per day will go down and the factory will complian of not having enough places to ship freight.

The best thing you can do is press F12 to pull up the industry overlay and spend a couple of in-game hours watching the trucks leave your troubled factories -- see where they go, how long they take.

I'd be very interested to hear what people find out from this, because I have the same problem as OP too... industry complains when there is an open trade depot next door with zero traffic between the two.  I'm guessing the truck tries to send freight to another, further away destination, and gets stuck in traffic in that transit... but it would be nice if someone can confirm this! want to make sure its not just a bug.

I sat and watched a problem factory not ship any freight while a factory right beside it succeeds. Screams of 'we need someplace to ship freight' were heard echoing in the factory halls, the drivers didn't heed their calls. While poetic, sitting for hours watching the data layer waiting for the little yellow trucks leave the full factory, leaves me to believe that there is a problem. I started a thread on this forum on this subject a while back.

There are freight warehouses at the trade port\depot. Therefore, they should be able to take freight.

Skorcha: I'll try that and see what happens.

It was planned that freight made by industry can be used locally and exported by trade depot or trade port on the Global Market. Due several bugs most features of Global Market is disabled now so with limited local demand and UNLIMITED supply of goods for Commercial building from unknown source (you may have many C zones without any I and you will always have goods to sell) there is real problem with selling freight by local industry if you have more than few factories.

This game is now so screwed and bugged that there isn't any sense to play it if you want treat this as city simulator instead toy for kids.

All trucks I saw made it round trip to their destination in single digit game minutes.

I have I complaining about not enough workers and no places for freight.

I have C complaining about not enough workers or shoppers.

I have R complaining about not enough money and a bunch of homeless.

    *sigh*

EA sold us game with incredible quantity of critical bugs. I don't have idea how it passed beta test phase and  Quality Assurance.

If you want to how why you have problems with RCI balance look at these threads at official EA forum:

Here is a video I composed of some of what's going on. I didn't realize initially that the game stopped capturing video after a minute or two.
