Just a little update with the new cities submitted to me in the past couple of weeks. I have placed these in the county.

Included are Orishavit's Phosphorus Valley and Astatine, Dev's Carbington (he actually submitted Carbonton but he liked Carbington, even though I misunderstood his cruddy typing, but no harm done, lol), Iceburg's Puron Canyon, and Joexcooldude's Barite.

They will all somehow get something for this, maybe part of the superhighway named for them.

I will have closeups soon. Bear with me (especially Ori Shavit, Dev, Iceburg, and Joe).

FYI, there's a tiny town near here called Lithium. Named after a spring in the town that bubbles up water with traces of the stuff in it. Supposedly good for you and folks come from miles around to fill up jugs and take it home.
All in all, I'd rather live there than somewhere called Mercuryville. 14.gif

Just to let to know, I actually want certain industrial cities to be clouded over with pollution, but as the Sims that live nearby protest such smog, places like Mercury Lake could be clean. Salt Town has recently been changed to high tech due to the installation of several air cleaners. Others like the newly founded Xenon Prime will stay dirty and the massive amounts of traffic that flows through there and the people going to work there funds it.

Tonight there will be another update including new cities on the west Indium coast and development on the eastern side of the county.

This is the update for Lithium County. As of August 15, Lithium County has over 1 million people living there now. Argonia is at 200,000, Silicon Bend is at 60,000, and Goldtown is over 100,000. Prometheus has also had some major work done.

    LC-1mil.jpg alt=Image Hosted by ImageSha

A few new towns have populated and grown as suburbs to the larger ones. Included are Indium Beach, Seaborg, Nickelfield, Hypothetowne (name proposed by jbizzle), Antimony, all located around Argonia. The overall MSA should be around 350,000. New industrial centers have developed including the Xenon Prime Industrial Center NW of Argonia. Many people commute between Indium Beach, Xenon Prime and Argonia.

    LithiumCounty-1092643564.jpg alt=Image H

Within the cities are smaller, more diverse neighborhoods. In Bromine Bay: Turbine Flats, and Hydrogen Shore (name submitted by Ori Shavit). In Argonia: Argon Point, South Argon, Noble, and Argonton (Argonton is actually outside the limits of Argonia, within Seaborg).

In Prometheus, new high density commercial development has arisen to several major squares, including South Square and Pandora Square. The original downtown which was too compact to build large skyscrapers was labeled Old Prometheus while the heavy development is now known as New Prometheus. The Crossroads helps deal with massive amounts of traffic every day.

Here's a closer look at the development at Argonia, the new center of commerce (for now at least).

    argonia_200000_3.jpg alt=Image Hosted by

Xenon Prime located on the Indium Ocean next to Seaborg is filled of pollution, on purpose. There are no residents in Xenon, and we all know that pollution does not cross city lines in SC4. So Xenon is its own entity. Xenon has three mediocre beaches, Garbage Beach (guess what they dump there), Xenon Beach, and Prime Beach.

    XenonPrime-Dec31041092435683.jpg alt=Ima

Down to Bromine Bay where most of the work has been on the new Bromine Bay International Airport, my own custom design with piece placement.

    BromineBay-Jul2201092372144.jpg alt=Imag

I soon found out that each piece counts as a landmark and the upkeep kills the bank account. I have been applying the money cheat in order to stay alive. My recommendation to joerg, creator of the airport set: can you please reduce the landmark upkeep charges?

Now to update a town in Eastern Lithium County. Carbington was a submission by dev. Making Carbington and its surroundings from scratch has expanded my SC4 skills. The eastern superhighway runs to the west of town, mostly going underground. I might name this portion of it after the city's submitter, dev. Thanks to the creator of the hole digger for making it much easier to create underground everything. Also just east of Carbington, at the base of Mount Carbon, is the Carbington Natl. Wildlife Refuge.

First off an overview of the town.

Dev's (Devin's) personal ballpark. I'll change it to baseball when I return to work on it.

Finally, an overview of the Eastern LC area.

This region has really come along! I remember when you first started and it was all those undeveloped zones. It's nice to see how it came together. Here's some bunnies: 35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif35.gif

Looks like a really spiffy region (and its city layouts within) and the city names are great, too.
Only thing I could suggest would be using one of the water mods ... IMHO the dark blue one would make that region look fantastic.  44.gif

    What a shame to see.........

If you don't like a city journal, try to offer some intelligent reason or constructive criticism as to why - what's your idea of a good journal? I'm not sure if I want to see the contents of your other 22 posts or not......

Anyway, onto the reason I looked here, Lithium County. It's a great story and full of detail - something I really like in a CJ. Keep it up riffsyphon1024! 44.gif

This update will show the new cities of Urania, Oxydelphia, and Rutherford.

First Urania. Originally Urania was located at the source of an uranium mine but an explosion in the mine forced the city to move to neighboring Lithium County. Urania is now currently situated on the northern border of Lithium County. From there the founders of the 'new' Urania could plan as they pleased, and they chose a ring layout for the city. Commercial development would be concentrated in the middle with residential on the outer ring. But they took it a step farther by putting a big park in the middle. Aptly named Urania Park, it brings the countryside back into the city.

Here's a closeup of Urania Park just before growth.

    Urania-Jan28001092871688.jpg alt=Image H

Backing out a bit, with some development.

    Urania-Oct27031092880105.jpg alt=Image H

Now the city as it is today. Let the picture do all the talking.

    Urania-composite.jpg alt=Image Hosted by

Finally, a closeup on the recently constructed Urania Intl. Airport (using Joerg's wonderful airport pack).

    Urania-Sep15211093033815.jpg alt=Image H

Now on to Oxydelphia and Rutherford, twin cities on the southern border of Lithium County.

Oxydelphia is like any other town; it's got its Walmart too.

The Walmart (which is my lot edit to Baco's original) sits in the main shoping district along with a Target, Home Depot, Blockbuster, and Kinko's.

    Oxydelphia-Dec4061093069010.jpg alt=Imag

Most of the residents of the southern half of Oxydelphia work at the Walmart.

    Oxydelphia-Dec4061093069050.jpg alt=Imag

And finally Rutherford, named for the scientist who modeled the atom. Rutherford is the last city on the Radon River, which you may know stretches all the all way up to Cobalt Ridge and into Platinum Peak.

Once again, I'll let the picture do the talking.

    Rutherford1.jpg alt=Image Hosted by Imag

Various little communities have sprouted up on the east bank of the Radon and an interstate highway connects them to the downtown section of Rutherford.

And that's it for this update of Lithium County. LC currently stands at a total population of 1.21 million people. Stay tuned for more updates.

Looks good! Hehehe, you like Chemistry? 3.gif
I like Urania park and the layout of that city. Somehow it reminds me of an cristal's structure, your grids work very well with the chemistry theme.
