Joining a Region

I'm slightly confused as to why the ability to join a multiplayer region is so difficult, when Maxis and EA have raved about how much better it is to have Simcity as a multiplater game. The Join Game screen in the Main Menu, lists regions on the server, but there is absolutely no way to filter them. Every Public region I click on is full, so why can't I filter these out so only regions with free cities are displayed? Why can't sort them by wealth, or population? It's very frustrating and I hope Maxis addresses it.

 

I hope they bring back the SimCity World features back soon, too, again because this is something they've been going on about for the past year saying how fantastic it is, and right now I can't judge for myself. 

 

If you're going to turn a single-player game into a multi-player experience, you'd better do a damn good job, and Maxis has failed massively in this regard, I feel.

I tried to join an existing region, but they are all full. I changed server to see if my luck would be any better: after clicking "View more" for 10 minutes, all I saw was full regions. All I have been able to play yet (40 hours) is all by myself, even though I have tried to play multiplayer.

 

It does not work, and I tried to make it work properly.

 

Removing filters from the join game screen might help your servers, EA, but it kills the game (again).

The other thing that happens is that there is sometimes at the start a pop-up from the Citylog to 'join member' but when you click on it you ifnd that game is full.  Surely, this should be filtered to games that actually have a city free for development?

same problem here, managed to join a region after 24 hours of ttrying to find an empty one only find no-one else inh teh region is actually playing it that much. Lonely!!!

 I agree. I joined a region for the first time. I can't trade with the other cities because it keeps saying I have no conneciton to them which makes no sense when I can connect to my own cities on that region. So no trading. Several of the cities have been abandoned now. There is no easy chat facility except the log. I can at present so no benefit to regions.

I tried looking for an empty space in a region for about 20 minutes. I gave up and started my own region that was public thinking people would be able to find it and join in... It's empty and has been for a week. It would seem that new games don't pop up on the regions list. I must be honest, I have no idea how it works, but I do know that it is in no way intuitive.

I've seen some clips where there are filters on-screen when searching for a game, however, I don't have them on my screen.  I've checked the in-game settings/options but there doesn't appear to be anything obvious.

 

Do other players have these filters?

I saw filters on the first few days after the game released, but not since they turned off those "non-essential features".

It appears two people did join my region today but when I logged on the cities had been abandoned, claimed one of them and it was going bankrupt. Had a look and somehow 2.6 Million had been sent to the other city as a gift but that also owes money so not sure what is going on.

 

Worst part is both these city's are either side of mine so might end up deleting the region and starting again.

I am having the same problem, searched for ages but no free cities in any off the regions, so i started my own, and im all alone and have been for days, it is a tottal joke!!

 

 

EDIT: maybe we should all add each other as friends and start a region by inviting everyone

It's Viridian Wood, the place of pokemon referances.

My username is "SomeoneTookFlypaste", i was planning on changing it once i thought of a name but ofc im not allowed to change it cause EA are dirkheads.
