Zones 6x6 will not develop.

So I just recently installed simcity 4.... I wont be getting SimCity 2013 anytime soon...

 

 

I downloaded the HK Garden Estate Towers (Bixel) and saw in the file that I can build 6x6 low residential zones and it would develop into towers..

 

I zoned the 6x6 lot and sped up time but nothing is building... any reason?

Well, what is important is that you have enough population in your city and region. Every building has a certain building stage (meaning it will only develop after a certain threshold). So you cannot grow them in an empty city. You can find the numbers here: http://www.simcitycentral.net/knowledge/simcity4/building-stages/

Of course, you need to have sufficient residential demand, etc. Also, are you playing just Simcity or do you have the Rush Hour expansion or the Deluxe version? For most custom content to work, you need Rush Hour or Deluxe.

 

Depending on the wealth of the building, you also need parks, education, hospitals,... for high-rises to develop. If you think you have everything that's necessary, you can always try to plop parks around the zone, to make it more attractive.

I have the deluxe edition, updated using EA's patch then the nightlights patch.

 

So the higher the stages, the bigger the zones will develop??

 

so right now, I can only develop on zones no deeper then 3 tiles...

 

So once I reach whatever stage, can I pick what residential buildings or is random? like if I have 3 different 6x6 lot types and only wanted to use a certain type....

You get grow-able (builds itself in right circumstances) and ploppable(pick from menu, usually parks or landmarks tab).

Whoa, lots of confusion here... please allow me to clarify.

 

1. The HK Garden Estate towers comprise lots of various sizes, including 6x6 - that much is true

2. I don't know what you mean by "low residential zones".

   - If you mean "low wealth": You cannot zone for wealth, only for density.

   - If you mean "low density: The HK Garden Estate towers will only grow on high density.

   -You'll have to zone 6x6 tiles of high-density residential and have suffcient demand for low or medium-wealth residential (depending on which version you installed).

3. There is not even the slightest direct relationship between growth stage and zone size! You could have a 1x1 stage 8 lot, or a 6x6 stage 1 lot.

   - You'll have to zone for the lot size of the building you want - that counts regardless of stage.

   - Your city needs to have reached the stage that the building you want is assigned to - this, in turn, counts regardless of lot size

 

To sum it all up, you'll need to zone 6x6 high-density residential, your city must be big enough to support the required residential growth stage, you must have sufficient demand, and you must have the Euro tileset activated.

To zone lots of specific size hold CTRL while u zone.

 

Building stages are related to the density type, i think something like low density zones(stage 1-3), medium density(stage 4-6), high density(stage 7-8 ). So if you zone low density, stage 1-3 buildings can grow on it.

 

To develop a specific building, you need to have enough demand for it(if it houses 1k medium wealth residents(R$$), you need to have demand for 1k R$$, something like that) and also make sure the style the building belongs to is selected(I normally just use build all styles at once, remember to check European style too).
