Anyone else having water problems or is it just me?

Someone said put your sewage treatment, and water pump next to each other and it should give you infinite water?

 

I tried this and it doesn't seem to work...

 

 

Does it have to be before the water pump or after the water pump?

 

Is it a fact that rain really replenishes the water table in the game? Or is this just speculation based on how it works in real life...

I don't have the utilities department yet, but I was told in another thread that I started to put the sewage treatment plant and the water pumping station next to each other and it should give infinite water.  As I said, I haven't gotten that far yet, but I would assume that you would need to do this in an area with a good amount of unpolluted water to start of.  And, I've read that rain replenishes the groundwater marginally at best.

Water production

 

Take a water filtration plant and put it all the way in the corner on the downwind side of your city.  Remove the water pump it comes standard with and instead give it only filtration plants and place them in a U shape.  Then run a low density road in to the center of the U and place a sewage outflow pipe right there between the filtration plants.  Your water needs can be met by one of these setups up to around 250k population.  If you like you can place your dump right there next to it too and give yourself even more water.  The basic idea is to pollute the hell out of the ground in the area under your filtration plant so it has lots of sludge to convert to clean water.

I have done something along the same lines. I did not do it in a "U" shape but I have the sewage plant (from dept. of utilities, not the basic outflow pipe) with the max. snap-ons, then my water filtration plant with the max. filtration snap-ons (not standard water pumps), and my dump on the other side (water plant in the middle, sewage and dump adjacent). At 100k+ populaton and water intensive industry (mining) it is meeting all demands.

Hi, I was looking to implement this design, but can't seem to get it done efficiently (and it's costly to keep trying).  Could someone post or send me a screenshot of this setup?
