One Thing Wrong that sets everything far from perfect

Sim City 2013 is arguably the best looking city-building game ever, has basic controls, easily managable, has a sandbox mode, it seems perfect, right?

Well, one thing is wrong that just sets everything in the wrong direction....

THE MULTIPLAYER

(font size trouble, pardon me)  WHY, oh WHY does this game have multiplayer?  City building games are singleplayer, why do you want to make this game more like a social network (which isn't something I'm into)  I don't want to constantly be on connection with random people?  If there is one game I don't want multiplayer in, it's Sim City!

OK, I'm not a social person, and so this just didn't work.

This, I see, is the main flaw in Sim City 2013   EVen though landmarks would be nice at any time.....

you are trying to paint a picture, so why the hell would you want 11 other people to pick up a paintbrush and try to paint the one painting at the same time???????

I can't say I'm a social person either but I do like playing with select friends / forum members. I probably wont join a random region but who knows, I like the option. The multiplayer is what makes this game so enjoyable, but you still have a single player option anyhow.

What are you on about! Offers a whole new way to play. The magic thing is you can still play it by yourself.. If you didn't realise.

Some people like collaborating and some people don't.  That's why there's an option.

Honestly we now know that Maxis is owning up to this 100%, stating it not EA's fault. They just said it in the Q&A.

Maxis is a bad company. It didn't used to be but now it is. Any idiot could see that there needs to be an offline mode and they still have NO INTENTION of offering it.

If all of Maxis died tomorrow I don't think anything of value would be lost. I actually think the world would improve. They've clearly outlived their usefulness.

Tbh I don't think Maxis has been that great of a company after Will Wright left.

Sadly, I want a multiplayer right now. Im in a public region, and I started a new map today on NA East 3. My last experience with multiplayer died out when the public map I joined was full of just empty towns that people claimed but never started on.

But now my new map is empty because of the lack of a search or friend function...oi.. And of course I picked the map with like 60% water..so its like...i got nowhere to build to tech up..lol

I'm not sure why Maxis would fall on its sword so hard to let EA off the hook.  Perhaps Maxis is telling the truth and it is all their fault.  But I think its more likely than not that Maxis and EA have damage control PR people and it was agreed upon that Maxis would take the heat at 100% even if its 80/20 or 70/30.  Then again, who knows.  I have no reason to not take Maxis at its word unless they'd have motive to not tell the truth.

Oh, and its just $60 bucks and a PC game, nobody needs to die for it.

Actually it was Will Wright who mismanaged Maxis driving them into bankruptcy and forcing them to seek a buyout.

If they had a better CEO, they might have avoided bankruptcy

I think jigsaw said it best... And you still need server access.
