GTX 580 SLi and low fps... wtf?!?!?

Just installed the game, updated to latest beta drivers, and STILL lower than 60FPS... WHAT IS GOING ON? Is SC really that heavy????

 

Game is set in AFR2 SLi mode, as stated by EA and both cards when everything is maxed work at 60-99% and the FPS still drop....

 

Note that the CPU isnt slow either, i7 950 @ 4.4GHz

I guess that's why they can't make the cities any bigger.  You would think that they would have figured out how to make more efficient game engines since SimCity 4, but apparently not.

What resolution are you running?

 

I'd suggest using a driver cleaner and then reinstalling the drivers.  I havent had any video lag issues and I'm running an Intel Q6600 (stock speed 2.4Ghz) and an ATi 6970 @ 1920x1080 max settings. 

 

Something is up.  Maybe your HDD?  Are you using a SSD?

They say on their site that it runs best with a SLI setup, I hope this will you.

Well, the computer has been recently formated, so no issues with drivers so far.

 

Running on Vertex 3 SSD Raid0, so no issue with speed from there either.

 

My res is 1920x1080.

 

Weird thing is, although cards dont go to >95% usage, FPS goes down to 40FPS...
