Hey

Very excited over this game.

Tho i have stumbled on some questions. Maybe someone here have managed to find a answer....

So far i have only started one city.

I noticed quick tho, that i was out of space to expand it.

I have also found that i dont know how to work with several cities. Like have workers in one, industrial in another etc.

I tried to start cities that only focus on industrial but then it fails since there is no workers.

I feel that i dont know how to play the game really... Have there been enough time for tutorials to be made ? :P

Id like to know how i get my workers to go from one city to another so i dont need to build industrial in one area atall.

I haven't had any luck with my workers commuting out to my huge industry city. My cities all show thousands of workers commuting in, but none of them have workers commuting out. I'm not sure whats going on. Maybe a bug or something.

Multi-city play is shaky at best right now. Hopefully EA can fix things up quickly.

Have you increased road density? land value?

yes, roads are at medium or high.

i often get to medium density quite fast.

but then my space is gone and i cant expand the city.....

what i feel most irritated over right now

is that i cant figure out how to manage sell and buy orders between citys.

if i create two city's in a region... one for power and industry, oil and coal etc.

one for residential, shopping and tourists...

but i cant start the industry city without residential

and i cant start the shopping one without industry.

so i jump back and forth to them.

but my sims dont seem to travel between.

after a while i had enough money to buy bus station

    dont know if it helped.

there is not interface or way to see what my sims are doing at my city and other citys

are my residential s from one city traveling to the industrial city to work?

i miss the detailed  statistics in the game

i cant view this in this one... or at least i have not found it.

YEp this game has potential but is quite a mess, and thats without getting into the online DRM fiasco. Game is very limited and poorly thought out.

I haven't spent nearly as much time playing residential cities (been focusing on industrial and mining/drilling), but I easily manage getting my cities to 50k without even using all of the space.

So... without at least seeing a screenshot of your city, I don't even know where to begin with explaining to you how to surpass 30k... because that's a number I literally never struggled with...

ok, ill upload screens later tonight or tomorrow... (about to leave now)

but ill try to explain how i build

so far i pretty much only build with squares, straight roads and quite small squares leading from a main avenue.

I mix residential and commercial zones, but each square consist of only one type (residential or commercial).

In every second square i put some kind of park to increase happiness.

i have medium density roads everywhere.

industrial zones are sorted in one corner of the map together with the powerplant

water tower is far away from industrial area

i have a school, police, firestation and hospital.

(1 of each to cover about half of the map with appropriated upgrades).

i leave space for future avenues etc.

this is how i start building a mixed city.

for real id like to not have any industrial in a commercial and residential city, i rather have a industrial city. but that does not work so far for me.....?

    have i missed anything?

(oh ofc i have garbage and sewage things aswell in the industrial area)

Without the screenshot it's hard to tell for sure... but, if you're using the road guidelines, use the second guideline if you're going for density.

The first guideline is for back-to-back low-density buildings without roads between them. The second guideline will leave space between your low-density buildings, but when they start upgrading into medium density buildings, the empty space goes away.

Also, it's entirely possible that you're zoning too much commercial or industrial. Now, once the servers start working, commuting workers should be more consistent and you can really get into specialized cities, but even now with that not completely working, you still don't need a whole lot of space for industrial or commercial. But like I said, I was able to manage 50k citizens with a decent size industrial section and still had plenty of space left over.

EA booted you because you were on for 4 hours.

Dunno about that.  Once I've finally gotten connected to a server and successfully loaded a region and a city I've had no issues playing for 6-10 hours straight on launch night and last night (couldn't get connected at all on Wednesday night).

I'm having similar issues w/ intra-region play on a private and entirely single player region though.  Utilities trading seems to be completely broken, which given the initimate confines of each individual "city" map makes the game pretty shallow.  In the region I started playing last night (the Archipelago one) I've got two cities right next to each other, one intended to be a residential/commercial center and the other heavy into coal mining, industrial, and utilities.  Despite having 10x the need in surplus of each utility it still shows as no resource available when attempting to sell/buy any utilities from the region map w/ either the industry/utility city or neighboring residential/commercial city loaded.

I'm actually pretty eager to explore the more interconencted gameplay approach but w/o trading/commuting working between the "cities" it's pretty much a non-starter...

    started a new city today

    what about this?

    http://prntscr.com/vlcjw

is that enough space between the roads to give buildings the ability to go from medium to high density?
