That looks like a really interesting game and I would love to buy a copy for myself.

I hope a mod moves this thread to the City Building Game forum section so that this thread gets more attention from potential Civitas fans.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

I sent a $ pledge to Civitas in hopes they get the game going. I hope others will consider doing the same. Good games cost money and wishing never created one line of code. ;) If they don't reach their monetary goal before April 1 your card will not be charged.

I wish them the best and will be supporting them as long as they are progressing.

I'm pledging some money, too.

Who knows, maybe it turns out to be what we were looking for and SimCity has obviously not delivered. Or maybe not, but still worth trying.

Some coverage from the Simtropolis admins wouldn't be bad.

I'd like to know why is simtropolis CENSORING this project ?

I saw this project in the NEWS, and i tried to comment, comments were disabled, and the news disappeared one hour later.

I tried to post it again and it was not accepted.

Is simtropolis bought by EA ? Look at the banner and the advertising everywhere of simcity, this is really sad.

    sorry for my english

well I wouldn't say that they are censoring it but they are refusing coverage for this and similar city builder projects. Most of these projects will fail, that we know, but they could at least use some support from this community. Maybe one succeeds.

Instead we only get more and more news, links, banners and s**t about a game that, as of now, has terrible ratings on amazon and metacritic. They sure are collaborating in shoving this thing down our throats. For the first time in 10 years the Simtropolis administrators are losing their impartiality.

Indeed, simtropolis should really display more support for civitas. it could help them making to their 200k goal.  :lost:

And how many such projects do you suppose Simtropolis should support?  It is bad enough that the existing effort by one of our more productive sites (EA) is vaporware, how much plasmaware do you suppose should be supported here, anyway?  Look around and you might find a real project being built right under your noses.

Looks brilliant! Can't wait for the next video!

Except placing trees individually via terraforming is making me feel like designing cities is going to take quite a large amount of time. But hey, I guess that's where the fun and creativity stem from.

After about 10 years of thrashing around in the design phase, this is finally starting to look like it might happen soon.

We know many new start-ups never see the light of day and disappear. However I would ask is it the place of Simtropolis or any fan site to decide which one is worthy of having a platform.

This site is named Simtropolis and to me that includes ALL things simulated. It seems to me such a fan site would be eager to have a section that is impartial but gladly lists ALL simulation start-ups that fall into the building category. After all, isn't the purpose to INFORM members and visitors?

Each start-up should have a thread with any relevant links and be listed under some title indicating they are in early plans or development. If they later show to be fraudelent or they pass away then make such a notation so folks know what happened and don't just delete the thread with no word of explanation.  Perhaps there could be a graveyard thread.

In my opinion this would be real service to the simulation gaming industry and most importantly to the players. It would also tell folks that Simtropolis is THE place to go for the latest information on what is happening in the simulation world.

Who knows who or what will be the next big thing and wouldn't it be nice to be thought of as the place who helped in those early days?

Hopefully SC4 will fade into the background although I doubt it will be soon, but Simtropolis needs to be ready and relevant if they don't want to be usurped by some other entity.

Just my two cents. Thanks. Jim

I waited ages for the latest SimCity to come out and it seems to be a failure. Instead, I contributed to the Civtas kickstarter effort.

Yeah I contributed to the Civitas project. Hopefully they are successful because I pledged enough to get into their beta.
