SimCity 2013 and SimCity4 are TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GAMES. Comparing them is like comparing apples to oranges.

Yes SC4 is no longer as visually stunning as it did back in 2003 and it definitely is lacking when compared to this new game or others in the same line (current gen graphics capabilities) but when it comes to playability SC4 can eat up hours and hours of your time. This new game however... only time will tell if it will provide countless hours of enjoyment.

It's probably relevant and worth mentioning a comment Ocean Quigley made about Will Wright regarding the two games.

As most know, Will Wright had virtually nothing to do with SimCity 4 and SimCity 2013. Ocean mentioned that back when they were developing SC4, it was a struggle to finally get Will Wright to even try out the game and give any feedback, and even once he did, he didn't play it all that much. Conversely, when Ocean gave Will Wright SimCity 2013, Ocean said Will sank several, several hours (days) playing the game.
