Downloaded both, and will add them as an album to my music collection.  Keep up the good work.

Nice stuff! May I ask what application you use to make these re-mastered versions of SC2K music? I've re-mastered all original tracks of Transport Tycoon Deluxe with FL Studio 9.

Example song:

Funk Central

Best,

Maarten

Thanks Nonny Moose: your feedback means a lot!! :)

MandelSoft, i like your work! :D I myself use Logic Studio 9, with its built-in loops and Jam Packs (instruments) coupled with some external libraries; mostly EastWest Symphonic Orchestra, Wallander Wivi Band and sometimes Miroslav Philharmonic.

Pretty good, and that goes for the both of you. Subscribed to the thread; eventually I'll download the whole lot (probably once it's all finished, but no rush!). I added a link to this thread in mine; I suggest you link to this thread in your signature as well. Maybe you could remix the SimCity Classic tune too? Once you're done, consider putting the whole lot into one zip file; it makes it easier on the downloaders.

And while I'm at it, I want to know how I can put tags on my thread, too.

Hi guys, first of all let me apologize for not being present in the last days, but I'm in the middle of a severe bogostorm and I have little time! :)

I love you all, you're being really encouraging and that means a lot for my work! I only hope it's not a problem if the remixes won't come out rapidly, for rewriting, retexturing and rearranging is really a patience work... and it just takes time (kinda like building a town in the game! ;) ).

As for the linking, I'm afraid I still can't do that, since it looks I need a 46ish approved posts to edit my signature... and I don't have them! :D Of course I'll do that as soon as I'll be able to.

Also, I will make a single archive as soon as all the songs are all done.

Biff, as for the tags, I found them as I was creating the thread, so I guess this is a functionality for when you start a new thread. Try editing yours, I guess you can still add them...

I'll see you soon, guys, I'm almost done with the third track.

    Bye bye ;)

Alright, keep it up. Again, I don't know how you can actually re-texture a piece of music (or music file) but I trust you know what you're doing. By the way, what exactly is a bogostorm? Regardless, stay strong.

The idea is great! I love the SC3k soundtrack especially and already considered engineering some re-dos of those when I got time on my hands. The originals used a great world sample library that is incredibly hard to get these days, since we're talking late 90s electro scene here...

Thanks, Biff. How do I do it? I open the MIDI in a professional DAW, I change the basic instruments into something from a better library (i.e. library of samples), sometimes I write new parts (example, the first track only had one "Strings" track, which results in a poor harmony... good for a MIDI from a computer game form the 90s but not for today standards and/or for an orchestra score, so I did write the missing parts) and sometimes I create some variations (solos, intros, cues...). That I call "retexture"... but that's just a fun name! :) (if someone is interested I can film a tutorial...).

Oh, yeah... a bogostorm is just a way I call the sh^t that happens all at the same time... but nothing serious! :D

Hey, I just saw this thread, and while I won't be able to check anything out before Sunday, I'll certainly give it a go then! :golly: Listening to that old SC2000 music will be a great experience, and I'm sure you did a great job on these.

I know I enjoy all those great remixes of vintage Amiga game scores and actually listen to them a lot while I'm doing stuff on my notebook.

Maarten, those TTD songs you mention there... more stuff that's relevant to my interest! I think the music from OpenTTD is ok, but the tracks are not equalised (varying volume), and the Scott Joplin collection I'm now using instead is a bit monotonous, being all piano ragtime songs from 0-100. I'll check out the sample you posted, too. :)

Enjoyed this music.  Waiting will fill for more, I suppose.  Your arrangements are quite intriguing.

Beautiful! I added this to my soundtrack folder, along with the Societies and 3000 songs. This makes for a more varied experience in SC4.

Very nice.  Plays well on Rhythmbox.  When I get enough of these I'll make a playlist for use behind the game.  I like the opening SFX.  Reminds me of Toronto.

Another collection of good MIDI music you might consider 'remixing' is the soundtrack for the old, excellent submarine simulator 688(i) Hunter-Killer. Pretty dramatic stuff, fitting for submarine combat (not to mention Hunt for Red October). I have the original MIDI files if you want them; I can put them on MediaFire if you or anyone else wishes to take a crack at them.

Boomtown will need a musical score. Would you be interested? If so get in touch with Buggi and get on the team.

(Do you know me? How did you now I love submarine games at least as much I love SimCity?!?!)

I didn't; I only recently got into 688(I) myself despite owning the game for a while (I'll get it on Steam soon and really start playing it, hopefully). I'll upload the music soon and...hell, I'll post it right here in the thread for everyone. And if you're working on Boomtown, then I'll have to get that when it comes out as well.

EDIT: http://www.mediafire.com/?5s0ocvxn5vj6l2w Here it is. The 11 MIDI tracks are rather small (plucked directly from the game directory I should think), and need to be played in Windows Media Player (at least that's the only program I have that will work). I can convert them to MP3s if you really need me to; the game music is also uploaded to YouTube (it sounds slightly different, and if you're going to grab it with a YouTube downloader it'll be a movie file you can't exactly turn into a MIDI). If you remix this I will...be very grateful. Very, very grateful.

No, I don't need the Mp3s at all (besides, I can download them from YouTube, as you say). Stay sure: I AM going to work on it! I just love this combination (music+subs) so much!! ;)
