No High-rise Buildings after installing CAM - new city

Hi everyone,

I started several cities in different regions but seeing those small buildings made me frustrated. So, I installed CAM and all the packages and dependencies that came along with it. Then I continue playing and I've got skyscrapers. yay!

the problem is, when I start a new city (after installing CAM), skyscrapers won't grow (be it residential or commercial).. I've zoned high-density commercials and residentials but all I got are tiny buildings..  :(  :(  and it's been 76 years and the demands are in the maximum..

is CAM responsible for that?? pls. help

Thanks to anyone who can answer

With CAM, the minimum desirability level for CO$$$ is higher, make it become slightly harder to grow but also reduce the possibility of all CO$$$ to get abandonment.

And the requirements are not just demand, but also the desirability level of the area. Check you city's desirability level, if the desirability of the area is not high enough, then skyscrapers won't grow.

I think your problem is not the CAM, but the desirability. And make sure that your city's demand for CO$$ and CO$$$ is high. Otherwise, only midrises and small buildings will grow though the desirability is high enough.

Pay attention to the education level too. CO$$ and CO$$$ will required more educated sims, and don't forget neighbour connections. The flow of traffic is a good desirabilty factor for those Commercials.

The CAM will give you larger bulidings, however, it will actually take you longer to get them! If only because the CAM expands the number of growth stages from 8 to 15. So in vanilla you'd get skycrapers at stage 8, while with the CAM you're only just passed the midway point at stage 8. Furthermore, growth is more gradual and balanced with the CAM, it's quite hard to quickly stamp out an urban jungle, especially in an isolated tile. So as you say it's been 76 years, I suspect your city isn't near big enough to start growing skycrapers. You might also want to start developing neighbouring tiles, as the highest CAM stages require quite a large regional population.

Thanks a bunch for the reply guys..

I've noticed that my city isn't growing because of all that traffic noise and pollution stuff.. so I found a way to zero it out.
Now, even my smallest city is a metropolis..  :golly:  :D

    Again, Thanks :D
