/idealbb/files/I am going away for a week, so i will make this update a big one!

    QUIE HUGE SUCCESS

After one month open, Queen Elizabeth International has become very well known for its beautful terminal, and connection to many other cities in Simnation and the World.  Although Victoria has a population of only 100 000 people in the Harbour-St. George districts, it's relative remote location helps to become a major airway hub.

Recently, Simnation Airways has proposed an office in Downtown Victoria Harbour, which city council hopes wil spark a new wave of commercial development, one which hasnt hapened since the 1920's before the great depression.  Several Apartment buildings are planned to start construction within the month.

Here is where the Rich take up residence.  The prestigious Bell Towers is the tallest buildings in the city, and is recongnized as a historic site.  It was the tallest building in Simnation when completed.  You can also see the start of the Victoria Monorail.  It connects the Industrial area to the Residential, and will soon be exmanded to reach St. George and the AIrport.
    /idealbb/files/vic_012.JPG

On the other end of the scale, here is the Brownstone District.  It was built during the 1920's and continued on the 1950's to make affordable housing for industry workers in a compact area.  INow, mainly poorer immigrants live here.
    /idealbb/files/vic_013.JPG

Here is St. George.  It maintains very strong ties with Victoria, although they are not yet officialy recongnised as one city.  It is more of a suburban area, and many rich people live here.
    /idealbb/files/vic_009.JPG

The richest area in St. George.  Also home of the country club.
    /idealbb/files/vic-011.JPG

Many of the rich find their jobs in these high tech facories.  The old rail system you see here is going to be replaced with the new, more efficient Monorail.

    Please don't give up!!
JUst like the saying for sim city if you build they will come
Your CJ saying should be If you report it they will come as well
During the week many a CJ do not get many replies but weekends are different more people have time to sit back and read and look at CJ's which can be time consuming.
I hope this convinces you to try to keep going , but if not i do understand44.gif

well first of, i know how you feel, from my 2ond update i got only one reply, in three days, now in my third update i got 2 overnight(mabe the weekend thing) and now its down somewere on page 2, and i updated about 20hours ago, i think my city looks great, and i like showing it off, tho to get regulars i guess you have to take the hard times and just think its fun showing off, and maby in a month or 2 you know if many people like it, cos you do have a beautiful sity to show of with. im gonna keep reviving myne for atleast a month, and of its really sucsessful im gonna sow of my region and maby make another cj sometime. but if no one likes it after 2 months it might be unessesary to continue... youre cj hasnt been up for all that long, and it would be sad to se it go down so soon.
All the best luck to you.

    Cheers

    Well im back...
    lets gat to the updates
The HS (Harbour Seperatists) have been rallying outside of City Hall for 2 days now...They want Victoria Province to become its own country.  The mayor has called a referendum for 2008 to decide whether or not sperating is even an option.  The HS wants to seperate because of Victorias huge differences frmo the rest of Simnation.  It is isolated, and has a strong British heritage.

St. George and the Harbour are planned to be merged to form the City of Victoria.  Official merger is in 2006.

The Victoria Harbour University (VHU) is one of the finest business schools in the world.  It was built in 1920.

    /idealbb/files/vic_016.JPGhttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files/vic_016.jpg>
Two new Residential Towers (Harbour Towers I and II) are under construction.  The each hold about 1 000 R$$ Sims.

    /idealbb/files/vic_017.JPGhttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files/vic_017.jpg>
Old downtown (on the right) is now being taken over as the CBD by New Downtown.  Two new Towers have been built.

The brown one is the Regional headquarters for Simnation Airlines as well as the regional headquarters for the Simnation Airports Organization.  It is known as the Aviation Tower.

The blue one is the Bank of Simnation Tower.

Construction of the Queen Business Park.

(The reason the airport is so high above the sea, is if it was lower it would be washed away and flooded by any high wave or freak high tide that miight happen.
    /idealbb/files/vic_0212.JPGhttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files/vic_0212.jpg>
    and after it is done...
sorry there are some pictures this ownt let me upload...ill try again later.

What is this building? Is it a BAT or part of the game? Looks really cool. Much like the rest of your CJ in fact. The region seems such a nice one to play. I wanted to build Victoria too once cos the area is so varied, but got tired of hand-terraforming the whole thing. But you're doing a great job with this, keep going!! 19.gif19.gif19.gif

It really is a beautiful map...its actually on the MEX under Victoria.  It is soo far from the actual city though..i could never to that justice.

That tower is mart of the game...it comes with Rush Hour under the Euro-Contemporary Tileset...It is one of my favorites...i was so hapy when it was built.

ok heres a short update for you guys.
    ....

These are taken in the extreme north of the region.  It is very beautiful and secluded, but there is a definite boom taking place, so expect this area to become a major population center.
    /idealbb/files/vic_022.JPG

The main North-South avenue (called Border Street) runs directly through the center of the Town of Manchester.  On the cities main intersection it two towers meant to symbolize the gateway between two provinces.  Until now, each province has been getting along fine with one another, but the HS(Harbour Seperatists) have threatened violence if they don't get what they want.  Manchester is a fairly rich town.

    /idealbb/files/vic_023.JPG
This gives you an idea of how the border looks.  The rest of Kennedy Province is located across a bay, about 1km off of the edge of the map.  There will be some semi-major cities located within Kennedy Province.

haha theres a reason for the high airport...

there are high waves that come in from the sea, i think i said that somewhere else, but ill say it again.

There is a plan for the future for a rouge wave to come and wipe out some coastal areas

that wasy the airport can stay safe...its just basically for a realism thing...yea you get the idea..

Blackout Leaves Victoria Harbour in the Dark
At about Midnight last night, the power for all of Victoria Harbour went off.  The outage has nothing to do with the power plants, which are all in fine working order.  Several possibilities are listed as a cause.  Power was restored at 5.00 AM, this morning.

The HS, who have threatened something like this in the past may have cut out the power.  Secuirity tapes are being examined to see if anything suspicios happened in the Half hour before the incident.  It also may have been a malfunction in the power grid, similar to the Blackout in the US and Canada in the summer of 2003.  Keep reading or watch your local news for breaking stories about the blackout.

ok i am back and have a CJ to update.
      FIGURE IN BLACK CUTS POWER
Victoria: Some news has been released regarding last Wednesdays blackout.  After reviewing a security tape in the Power Substation 2A on Canal Street, the substation believed to have been the root of the blackout.  A masked figure in black was shown breaking into the facility at about 11:50 PM, 10 minutes before the power went out.  Cameras could not show what the individual did, but investigators are currently on-site checking for what they did and any evidence they may have left behind.

Chief of Police in Victoria- St. George commented We have not found any significant findings, but the investigation has just begun.  We can assure you, we will do as much as we can to catch the person who did this.

The power grid, almost unchaged since the 1970's is now undergoing a series of updates, which will prevent any widespread problems if one area shuts down.
    vic_024.jpg
Here is the new suburb of Chapel Hill.  This is it now, when it had under 10 000 people, the population has now reached over 30 000, with mainly R$$ residents, with about 3000 R$$$ residents.  Expansion shown on last picture.

    vic_026.jpg
The new Simnation Bank Park, home of the new baseball team, the Victoria Tsunami.  The area will be filled with parks when completed, and the road shown is planned to be connected across the bay wihth a bridge to ease traffic on the busy Vancouver Street (Named after Captain James Vancouver)
    vic_027.jpg
The Downtown is undergoing a HUGE economic boom due to the rapid expansion of the suburbs.  The new tower on the far right is the headquarters of the York Electronics Corporation, a major seller of Microchips, computers, and other electronics.  Their factory is located in the Victoria Industrial Park.

    vic_030.jpg
Heres a region shot, you chould know the main areas by now..The new suburb is Chapel Hill, and to the west of Chapel Hill and north of QEIA, is York, a low wealth slummy area with tenements and factories.

Three Proposals of city growth..Ill let you vote on which one.

Proposal A is in light blue and green.  It would expand west from the exsisting communities in Chapel Hill.  It would be the safest approach, seeing it would be nothing but an expansion in St. George.

Proposal B is in the meduim colours.  The commercial areas would be larger and have some med. density so taller offices could be built.  Also, a better education and healthcare system would cover the new naighborhoods, making them have some mansions, which most of St. George doesn't have.

Proposal C is risky, but could turn out very well.  It would involve making a wealthy neighborhood on the north end of Chapel Hill.  The development south of the highway would have some high rise apartments (R$$) and mostly R$$ neighborhoods.  The office park would be the riskier part, for it might not build at all or could ruin the south office park already built, but if a success could bring new economic opportunities to all of Victoria.

    VOTE AWAY.

Republic of Simnation Approves Seperatist Referendum

Victoria Province, August 2004: The Republic of Simnation has just approved plans for the Seperatist Referendum, which will take place in January, 2005.  If it succeeds, it would leave the Free Market Republic of Simnation for a Federal Constitutional Monarchy similar to that of Britain.  It would also recognize the monarch of Britian, Queen Elizabeth, also the namesake of the new International Airport.

The referendum would also be followed directly by a Federal election, as well as introducing the Harbour Seperatist organization as a political party, as well as introducing a new currency.  The Victoria Dollar would replace the Simnation Dollar as the currency, and would be gradually removed from the banks and stores over the years.

Victoria would also become a member of the British Commonwealth, and would align itself predominantly with Australia, Canada, Great Britain, New Zealand, and South Africa, and less so with other commonwealth counties, such as Bangladesh, Cyprus, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Singapore.
