Hey all of simtropolis,

I have always drawn (sketched, shaded) cities from my head, and take art for half of 6 and 7th grade. My drawings were always inspired by what I wish "simcity 5" would look like, and I'd draw them in freetime (or even when I'm bored in english or math class.) Also my first 6th grade drawings were inspired by Simcity-Societes, since it was the first City-Game I bought, then came Simcity 4.

In 8th grade, I only did a few occasional drawings and same with 9th and 10th grade. I finally took art in 11th grade (They put me in beginner level since I haven't taken art in highschool before).

This is one of my most recent SimCity 5(or boomtown maybe?) Inspired Drawing:

(Ignore the orange smudge in the middle of the building, it was a little orage paint that was spilled, but I removed it. I'll post a later pic of this drawing without the paint mark when Iget the chance)

Wow, you've got a talent there, really amazing work! :thumb:

The perspective and depth of shading is excellent. I really like pencil drawings of city landscapes, as they well represent the mood and atmosphere. Keep it up, I think you may have a future in concept art design!

Excellent work! My only suggestions would be to push your daarks and correct the verticals (some look a bit sideways, but it shouldn't take too long to straighten them out). Other than that, superb work, I absolutely love the trees.

Thanks everyone :) That really means a lot.

Last October, I our art teacher had us do a project "dream tubes" were we learned about things like overlapping, value, etc. with tubes. (She let our imagination go wild with this one) She told me since I knew overlapping and value previously, (since I'm in a beginner class with mostly freshmen) to make it advanced as I'd like.

Here's the progress pics I took:

    (partial shading)

    (Halfway done)

    Near complete:

    Complete:

I imagined it as a desalination, water treatment, and power complex located in a city (built in a dream game).

Took me 2 weeks (on large paper).

This is the style I work with atm, although I would love to learn how you start your perspectives? is it worth the vanishing point and all the rest of it?

Yes, and I usually begin with what my vision is and then draw the vanishing point and horizon. (Sometimes, I'll draw a road that leads to it, to guide me with the rest of the drawing)

Nice job, but I feel that the towers are "leaning into each other". Do you use equipment like T-Squares and set squares?

Its becuase of the lens on the camera matey..
