How do I expand my city area?

I tried to expand my city area near water with the expanding button but it doesent work.

 

I really want to expand the area without any region mods.

Expanding button? What or where would that be?

 

If we are talking about SimCity 4 - and I assume that because you posted in the "SimCity 4 Players Forum" - then all I can tell you is that an "expanding button" does not exist and has never existed in SC4.

 

You cannot change the city borders once the region is rendered. What you can do is change the config.bmp (a small graphics file that contains the city tile configuration) before you render the region, but once the region is ready, all city tiles are fixed and cannot be changed in any way.

You mean the flatten tool you use to expand land area over water? Is that what you mean by that?

With "ready" I mean the region is ready to play on - you see it in game, you can load a city map and start building. Once this state is reached, the city borders cannot be changed any more.

The only way around this would be to modify the original map and config; re-render the region and then import each city tile individually from the original region. Tedious, but it would work...
