I hope I posted this in the right place...

I'm running SimCity 4 and Rush Hour in Wineskin but I can't get a custom resolution for it. I set up the 'Virtual Desktop' to display in full screen in 1920x1080 but it just displays in the highest resolution in the game in the top left-hand corner. Any help?

If you mean under wine (Linux or OS/X), then you need to fix your resolution by setting it in the command line. Here is my Linux script:

#!/bin/bash

date

env WINEPREFIX="/home/john/.wine" \

wine "C:/Program Files/Maxis/SimCity 4 Deluxe/Apps/SimCity 4.exe" \

-intro:off -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32 -d:software\

-f -CPUcount:1 &>~/sc4.log

date

I do not use the wine virtual desktop.

    It didn't work. I think I'll try and find a Mac copy and use the Command or Alt key at startup.

    Just for clarification, what is wineskin? What operating system are you on? And if you copied my script, it wouldn't work. It is personalized for my set up. The main point is the resolution set up. What did you put on your command line?

    Wineskin is a GUI for Wine(sort of) for Mac OS X. I'm on 10.8.2 - Mountain Lion. I didn't copy your script directly.

    Oh, OK. There is a similar facility called playonlinux that I've tried. I found it didn't work either. Can't you just use wine directly? I made a script out of the shortcut to I could easily update it, then set it up as a command icon. One click, no console.

    8 Years late but this should work in your .desktop file if you use PlayOnLinux

    [Desktop Entry]
    Encoding=UTF-8
    Name=SimCity 4
    Comment=PlayOnLinux
    Type=Application
    Exec=/usr/share/playonlinux/playonlinux --run "SimCity 4.exe" -intro:off -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32 -CPUcount:1 %F
    Icon=/home/rhys/.PlayOnLinux//icones/full_size/SimCity 4.exe
    Name[fr_FR]=SimCity 4.exe
    StartupWMClass=SimCity 4.exe
    Categories=
