Buildings are invisible

All the buildings such as airports, universities, fire stations are built with usually one part of it visible (like the control tower at the airport) but the rest is just green tiles with nothing on it. Why is this?

Check your in-game settings. Make sure your graphics settings are on high. If this doesn't work, try rendering with software instead of hardware.

Also, do you have these two Maxis files installed in your plugins folder? They are required for Maxis props to show on custom lots:

bldgprop_vol1

bldgprop_vol2

But as Nonny said, this is most likely due to 'City Detail' not being set to high. This causes certain props / textures to be hidden on default lots.
