So in my plugins folder I have a set of sub-folders to sort my plugins like residential,commercial,skyscrapers,parks,education,utility...

Is there a maximum limit to the number of sub-folders you can have?

For example I have Plugins/parks/rides/modular amusement park pack/roller coasters

Is this too much?I mean it's good to have separating sub-folders but I heard they cause problems.

As far as I know; no limit to sub-folders. Personally I sort everything by creator (easier when I need to troubleshoot).

It might affect how fast the game/a city tile loads though

@KonstantinII: Subfolders are only "dangerous" when you go overboard with them. I recall that there is a limit of characters the path of a certain plugin can have (you know, the typical C:\Users\Dani\Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins\Parks and recreation\...\...), once you've gone beyond this limit, you may find problems in your game.

Then, if you begin putting subfolders inside other subfolders with extremely long folder names, you may encounter this problem. In normal conditions, if folder names are reasonably long to descript what's inside, you should have no problem.

There used to be a limit in windows of the complete path having to have less than 256 characters but I think this was relaxed when they went away from the 8.3 scheme. However, don't push your luck. I tend to keep them down to something distinct but short.

Since I am on Linux, I don't really think there is any limit.
