1. Build More Commerce Areas

2. Bulldoze it for even more commerce and residential areas.

Actually, industry will be replaced by commercial time to time as your city grows bigger. However, you can also simply replace them with commercial manually by re-zoning the industrial area.

I'm with Cefien, it'll shift naturally as your city grows. I find the best way to handle industrial demand is to build schools. Once your sims are educated, they tend to hit the CO & CS demand pretty hard.

I'm with Cefien and SilverCyric, Industry will be replaced by Commercials as time go, the game basically simulate our history, from farming area, to the industry age, toward today, where commercials and high technology factories are everywhere and dominating the earth though conventional industries and farms are not dead.

Some how the demand in my current city has skipped dirty/manufacturing industry for the most part lol (no demand mods). But thats not the way it usually goes as the others have said it usually shifts as as your city grows. Basically educate your sims and keep your air clean by not doing to much dirty industry, I also tax the hell out of dirty industry so they don't grow along with enacting the clean air ordinance. Balence is the key as always but doing this usually works for me.

To each his own. I find that putting the boots to I-D after the fourth year of simulation can be quite helpful. They phase out over a long period paying my 20% tax while doing so. Gives the city a nice little income boost, but it is temporary. They slowly get replaced by I-M.
