I have been looking all over the internet the last couple weeks and making really slow progress...

A little background. I have succsessfully used the SC4Mapper program with Vista to create some downloaded maps. The region that made me want to explore further was the "Coos Bay, OR" I believe it was created online by NHP. The detail and precision to these "real life" regions turned the game into a new machine for me and now I have been trying to create new maps of my own. Hopefully posting some if successful.

I have been able to gain some Grayscale images off of the USGS site (although this has proven to be difficult). When I import these images into SC4Mapper is places a large portion of the land under water, these are inland regions with only rivers no oceans. I have searched and searched for help on this and came across a ton of information. Most of the online info is dated and doesn’t apply to my version of windows or online links are not working now. I was lucky to find a thread with explanation on how to get SC4Mapper to work on vista with a custom text file…

    Any advice and hints on:

Editing Grayscale images to adjust sea level, or is there a better way to achieve this.

What are pointers to the “Scale Factors” within the SC4Mapper.

Programs are best for creating the “real life” regions using DEM and are easy to use.

Any great online resource sites for DEM files.

Finally thanks for all the great things on this site!! I am really impressed with the threads and forum for this site, so many people are still hard at work making this game better and better.

I think you might be better off with this over in the mapping forum. You can get all sorts of detail on this there. Also, have you looked in the Omnibus?

I’m not familiar with the OMNIBUS?? What is this?

I will look in the “Mapping Forum” also… I guess I have been looking in the wrong places. I saw so many people complain about these programs not working, but I was able to find solutions to get SC4Mapper working so I figured help must still be out there. Thanks for your help “A Nonny Moose”!!!

The Omnibus has its own tab at the top of the page. Were you never curious enough to click that tab?
