If no one did anything wrong or made no mistakes, he wouldn't find out much, would he?.

Absolutely...before men could fly, they fell first...

Everyone made mistakes.

Buildings have the habit not to light up in the first months after they are being built because the simulator takes time to "recognize" the building being in use. With that said, wait a few months and see if it will light up (you probably need to switch to daytime and nighttime manually).

And yes, that is a Maxis building.

I honestly don't know what that building is. I don't know if it's a standard Maxis building, or one I've downloaded and simply forgot about it. I have 40 pages in my Download history, so I suppose I could go through each one to check. I was just hoping maybe someone else knew before I took the time to do all that.

That is the maxis-default Marshall Printing, the tileset is New York if I'm not wrong.

Thanks, Jason.

Oh, I knew custom content sometimes took a while to light up at night, but I didn't realize there was sometimes a delay with Maxis buildings, too. Thanks for pointing that out.

I have switched to the LRM v5.0 Dutch set. I just liked the lights the best. I also removed the LRM v4.0 and now everything looks the way it should and is not overly bright. Thanks for LRM v5!

I did dl a new building...Burger Fuel ( ), and it has pics of it lit up. It has 5 stars so I dl'ed both copies. It says no dependencies. I installed one and tried it out...as it says Install only one. It didn't light up. I waited a good bit...nothing. So I shut down the game and removed it, and then installed the other version. Still didn't light up. Not sure what could be wrong.

Have you been reading the conversations about the version of the game? You have to be at 1,1,640 or 1,1,641 for BAT lots with lighted windows textures to work.

Umm, Nonny....wake up. Have you been reading the conversation? Dekiscool said he is now updated to version 1.1.641...():

Yes I bought a downloadable retail copy from Amazon.com which is version 1.1.641.0...that is according to my exe file. Yes...1.1.641...not 1.1.640....

And now my game seems to work ok. The building and signs all seem to light up like they are supposed to at night time. Before I loaded it up, I was able to save all the plugins and my cities from my old copy. I loaded the new retail copy I bought and downloaded. I then moved all my plugins into the new game plugin and my cities too. I hope it will work ok. I loaded my city into the game and saw all the new working lights...but while I was scrolling around the city, the game just shut down. Hopefully this wont be a sign of things to come....

Yes, and I wondered whether he had installed it. Did you test that lot to see if it has night light textures? He may have picked a dud.

Like Mandelsoft said, you have to wait at least a month until the game simulator recognize the building and then you can see the light. Have you waited at least a month??

Just a reminder, that building you downloaded has two different versions, the maxis night and the darknight. Make sure you installed the right version. cause you said something about switching around the building version when it didn't light up. Install one only.

Maybe I didn't wait a month. I will try that with it. Thanks.

And yes I did install my new retail copy v1.1.641.0...and everything that did not light up before DOES light up now. Which is good...minus the Burgerfuel so far. But everything else is good.

Well, patience is the watchword. Especially in a busy city, it take the simulator some time to get around to everything and the graphics objects always seem to be delayed when it comes to lighting. While you are concentrating on one lot, the CPU/GPU is wandering around visiting every object.

1,1,641 is Deluxe with all published patches minus the security junk, and runs without a CD in an optical drive.  It is the best version so far.  Any custom content should run with it barring conflicts.
