I am sure you are sick of me already...lol....but this is what I have noticed with some of the mods I have downloaded...the buildings are dark but the parking lot is lit up like a baseball field....

city.jpg

I am sure it probably has to do with the copy of the game I have...but any ideas why it does it? Does anyone else have this issue?

Also some of the signs don't light up, but the parking lots like this too...for example Dunkin Donuts...

No not yet. I will be ordering the game in the next couple of days when I get paid. Then I can dl the patch and have the updated game etc. Then I will see how it is.... was just wonder what the cause of this was...or is it because I don't have the right version of the game?

or is it because I don't have the right version of the game?

That's the problem right there...you must solve that update patch first.

Originality is essential, cause the patch wont be apllied to the non original game.

And you won't have the right version of the game until you update the patch.

If you get the Deluxe digital download from gamersgate, amazon, steam or origin instead of the disk version, no patches are necessary and you won't have to have the play disk (there isn't one) in the drive to play. Vendors are in my preference order.

That oversaturated nightlight is happened because of the rendering is set to hardware. Based on Maarten's explanation, change the rendering to software will solve the problem.

Now, that's funny, i'm using hardware rendering and never had a problem with nightlighting.

If i'm not mistake, mr.dekiscool here said about buying his game or the copy in amazon, back in his other thread before. But, seeing what's going on here, i'm not sure whether it is patch already or not. Let's just ask him his game version, shall we??

Based on the picture he provided, I assume if he has the LRM mod, and because I have it, then the lights become oversaturated at night if I use the hardware rendering, based on he explain the way to solve it on the post #133

Ok, first, what actually your problem here, is it about the parking lot lit like baseball field or about your dark building..??

Cause our friend Jason here saying something about LRM.

The version should be 1.1.640. Clearly you need the update patch.

So your problem wasn't the dark building after all...

You're using the Light Replacement Mod, i suppose. Well, in that case, from the picture posted by Jason. you can see the Graphic Option Windows, yes??

Try lower your Shadows setting. See if that change anything.

Hmmm...did you ever download Light Replacement Mod,..?? I assume from the picture, you were, yes??

What about your cars and plans, is it still coloured?? Back to hardware rendering should solve that.

To run with hardware rendering you also need to make sure your GPU control panel (in Windows) has all its 3D options set to "application selected" or equivalent wording.

You can control rendering mode with a start-up options:

    -d:software sets software rendering

-d:directx sets hardware rendering to DirectX

-d:OpenGL can be set but doesn't seem to be working correctly.

I knew it,...then we can't do much about it, since it is something about the modification of lots. Other words, the lamp post placed to close each other that then created such intesify colour. The only way is to turn off the shadows, to maybe lessen the intesify, but you already tried that.

So I took out LRM v40 and LRMv40_Mega_Pack and everything looked normal...not lit up so bright...but then other things obvious didn't work...and I had no street lights. I have ploppable street lights...but I don't really like using them because if I build something, I have to demolish the lights...

Yeah unfortunately there is no way to fix that other than modding every single lot that is too bright. With the LRM if the light circles overlap they stack. So any lots that have more than 2-3 lights in a small area are going to be really bright. I have the same issue since I downloaded the Light Replacement Mod but I still think it is well worth it since street lights look really bad imo without the mod. If I take screenshots I just avoid any overly lit lots. Maybe one of these days I will dive into the world of lot editing but for now I'm not that worried about it.

You mean after removing the LRM you have no street lights anymore?? That is impossible, that LRM is only replacement for the original maxis streetlights. Therefore, It should go back to normal when you remove them out of your plugins. Remember the streetlights won't appear until you plop or zone somenthing that contain electricity right next to the roads/streets itself.

Actually you don't need plopable streetlights in some area if you have already planed that area for development, the area suround it will have its own lighting and of course the streets/roads will too. The plopable streetlights will find more suitable place right next to your Avenues and Higways. If you're planing on making a long avenues or highways lines out of the city crowd then it will be the perfect place for them. Still, you need the electricity to light them up.

Yes that is exactly what I mean. I took both LRM folders out of the plugin folder. I then loaded the game. All the street lights are gone. All the places there were lights before WITH the LRM....there are no more lights...the city is a lot darker now with no street lamps. I don't know where all the lamp posts go....or why they are not replaced to the default ones....

Or your street lights gone after you removed the LRM outside your plugins??

Something's odd here. There's no way a replacement mod will also remove the original one when uninstalled.

Which LRM that you download?? Whose the creator?? Is it Mandelsoft?? You better direct this issue to his LRM thread,..

    I see,..so it's Mandelsoft's LRM...

but please note that before you install any mods you should better update your game patch...i notice that your game patch is still 1.1.638 where it should be 1.1.640.

I'm now leading you to the LRM thread located

Post your issues there, Mandelsoft the creator will give you more comprehensive explanation.

Honestly, I want to say I still have version 1.1.638.0, and I have absolutely no problems with night lighting at all. Can someone explain why I should update myself to version 1.1.640?
