There isn't really all that much on power lines, except that they transmit power over long distances and, like pipes, you don't wanna cut on funding.

In fact, there are places where you don't need power lines:

- Zones and lots will transmit power within a 4-tile radius. You can use any sort of park or equivalent to set up an invisible power line, or to mimic an underground power conduit.

- Bridges will also transmit power, but it needs to be within four tiles of something that's powered on either end.

- You typically don't want to lay out power lines in areas where it would be redundant (bisecting a large area of zoning, for example), unless you want it to be there (though there are eyecandy power lines that do the same thing). Plus, you only need just one power line to even transmit power if there's already a large gap between two areas.

The only real case where you need power lines is for neighbour deals for power or, as stated, you're moving power along large distances, such across multiple city tiles and the tiles in the middle are undeveloped.

It's better to use subway in a big city because of less area that needed to make subway network. But, if you use it around rural area, the high maintenance cost might rise your expenses a lot and also the number of commuter will use it is not many, use them around rural areas will make them become not effective.

if you make a rural areas, it's better to use trains instead of subways because of the cheap maintenance cost. Using trains in a big city will make them become less effective because of the area that will be used for the rail and the stations is quite large.

Subway will be more beneficial around big cities but trains will be more beneficial around rural areas.
