Every single map is always too big, it says like 5093x3400 instead of what 1025x1025 is there anyway to resize them or something?

The config file must either be wrong, or placed in the wrong region, or you are trying to render a map in the wrong region.

Go to your documents folder, then open the SimCity 4 folder. Open the regions folder in that and then create a new folder. Call it whatever you want this new region to be. Place the config.bmp file in there.

Open SimCity4 and change to a region that has the same title as the file you just made.

Start importing the greyscale jpg image as normal.

If your still having problems, give us a link to the file you are trying to use.

Hamish, I apologize- I feel like I'm thick, but this continues to elude me.

I get all the way to the config.bmp loads successfully. I then try to upload the .jpg- I click it, and nothing happens.

What am I doing wrong or missing?

Ok, so I did some further exploring in the pervious posts, and I think the information that I got hung up on was the fact that it MUST be a grey scale config.bmp. The color config.bmp (apparently) are not usable for macs.

While sad, I am significantly relieved to find that, when using an acceptable map, this process does indeed work, and I now have new maps.

I am having the EXACT same problem as adambomo, and i have yet to find a solution. I know i am putting the region folder with the config.bmp and the greyscale jpg in the right "regions" folder, the one in documents, but i also end up just staring at my screen waiting for it to start rendering after selecting the greyscale.jpg in the rendering menu!
