High CO$$$ demand, no development

Hi there,

Recently I reinstalled the game again and now I have a problem I've never experienced before.

I have very high CO$$$ demand (above the 18000 mark in the RCI-graph) but whatever I do, there is no development whatsoever. And I mean literally no development. Not a single job shows up in de job graph. What I find so wierd about it is that I have lots of area's with high desirability for CO$$$ (the greenest color) due to placement of plaza's, parks and landmarks, good transportation and no pollution, but no CO$$$ office is built.

The only solution for people not working in CO$$$ buildings seems to be placing landmarks for people to work in, but obviously I don't want my entire workforce to work in landmarks like the Bank of America.

Any ideas how to fix this? Have I forgotten something obvious?

Thanks in advance!

Did you perhaps forget to provide water? Are there enough residential zones to accomidate the commercial? Have you installed any mods that may be affecting this?

Hopefully these might get you going...

I suppose you have CAM installed since your demand graph goes that high? I had similar problem after installing CAM and found an explanation and fix on SC4Devotion forums. Try searching "no CO$$$ development" there, the fix was attached on one of a posts. (You must register to see the attachments).

What is the size of your Commercial zones ? 1 x 2, 2 x 2, 3 x 3 or anything bigger ?

How much population in your city right now ?

Do you mostly zone high density ?

Try dropping a nice big plaza on one of the downtown corners (on top of another lot if need be).

I fixed it! For some odd reason planting a hell of a lot trees in the zoned areas did the trick, eventhough it didn't do anything noticeable to the desirability of the area. Btw, the only mod I have installed is the NAM so that couldn't have been the problem. Thanks though for all the replies people! Some useful tips there aswell!

improve desirability, parks, landmarks, less pollution and yes INCREASE TRAFFIC is a BIG one (within you commence sectors of course!) on the same note be sure to add plenty of mass transit to the sector. also maxis skyscrapers tend to construct on 4X4 tiles to do so ctrl+ drag zone to create one large lot.

    good luck my friend

Yeah, the tree trick often works fine.

However, I still wonder how your demand graph goes up to 18,000 if you don't have any mods except for the NAM installed. By default, it goes from -6,000 to +6,000.
