Hi everyone!

I don't usually post here too much, i use to just read the forum, but i have a little problem and it is annoying me. I hope someone could help me :uhm:

Some time ago, i downloaded this awesome creation: by Glenni

The model is great and i love to see it in my low-wealth neighbourhoods with others similar buildings. But the problem comes when i'm making a new city, and suddenly, in the middle of a nice low density residential area, plof! 2 or 3 of this buildings appear. I don't want to uninstall it because now i have it in a lot of cities. I looked for someother people with this problem and i didn't see anyone, and I dowloaded again and re-installed the lot, and also i found i had it duplicated on my plugins folder, but i solved that and the problem is still there :|

Well, i hope someone could help me. If not, doesn't matter, i can demolish any building i don't want there, but still is annoying...

Last thing, my english is still not too good.

Thanks in advance! :D

The documentation says it is a stage 8 residential. What is your population? Perhaps your city has matured past that nice residential. Try breaking up the lot into smaller units. Try very small lots (1 x 1) and put in some small parks if necessary.

Well, as someone who also have that BAT, i suspect if that building is actually just a prop and not the real building. And that is the cause of a stage 7 building could grow around low density area, there just no fix for this problem, but as long as you not creating 3x3 or larger tiles, that building will not become a problem because the lot is only available as 3x3 and larger size and will not become the only building in the whole city. Btw, if you hate that one, the bulldoze cost is cheap, less than $70 and will not harming your city economy.

Look at here for a further explanation :

In fact, the Lot Editor has some internal rules according to which it assigns densities and stages (without telling you so). However, there is no hardwired connection whatsoever. You could easily mod a huge skyscraper to grow on low density in stage 1, or a tiny bungalow to grow on high density exclusively, and only after you've reached stage 8.

The default buildings are organised in a way that stages 1-2-3 grow on low density only, stages 4-5-6 mostly require medium-density lots, and stages 7 and 8 are mostly comprised of buildings that grow on high-density lots only.

Sgt Pepper, you're perfectly right with that "little cube" experience. The LE thinks "little cube = tiny building = low density, low stage", and there you go. You could do the same in reverse with a tiny building rendered inside an insanely huge LOD.

Growth stage cannot influence any decisions taken by the Lot Editor because it is assigned by the LE and doesn't enter the equation before.

In any case, I'd never trust an unintelligent tool that cannot consider complex conditions and contexts. <= yay for alliterations!

Thanks T Wrecks for the explanation of "little cube" experience.

So, the building itself is actually a prop and a little cube hidden inside that prop is the true building.

Well, the city uses to reach about 8,000 hab when this building starts to grow. Suddenly the population goes from 8,000 to 15,000 (with just 4 or 5 buildings). And meanwhile in the high density areas the are still the same (just little houses) so it is like the building starts growing in stage 2 or 3 (I have the CAM installed, not sure if this could affect)

Jason leo, that makes a lot of sense. When the building starts growing, the construction area is just the typical "orange" floor with a really tiny construction structure in the middle. Then, suddenly, the entire building appears. And even, sometimes, the entire building gets replaced with 3 little houses (so the game doesn't recognise it like a "big" building).

So well, i if there is not a solution i will do that ("break" the 3x3 zones) or just demolish them when appear. :uhm:

I looked through the lots in the reader and while 2 of the three residential lots seem to be fine the third has some slight modding errors and is set to grow on all density zones and is set to be in growth stage 1. Open "R$8_3x3_Glenni-Taylor_House_3_f95631e0.SC4Lot" in the reader, open the examplar file and set LotConfigPropertyZoneTypes to 0x03 for high density zones or 0x02,0x03 for high and medium density zones, instead of 0x01,0x02,0x03. Also change Growth Stage to a more suitable value, 0x08 if you want to match the other lots for this building.

    THANKS!

I did exactly what you said (never used that program, but anyways) and i could solve the problem. Tested in one of the cities where i had the problem and the building is not growing in low-density zones anymore :golly:

    A lot of thanks again!
