My building render looks like this:

problempc6.jpg

I saw someone also had this problem before, but not sure how they solve it.I know it has to do with the SFH files. Can anyone give me a more detail step by step solution to this?

dmscopio: your bat looks like this because fsh files IDs have been messed up. Problem arrises after MAX file has been saved with *.SC4Model file name put in the proper field in Export part of BAT. Only way (I'm aware of) to fix this is to go to the version of MAX file before SC4Model name was placed in.

not too sure if I entirely agree with/you Simfox *about file saved with SC4Model file name*....

1 dmscopio...check your custom LODs so that no geometry is outside the LOD, if it is default LOD dont bother.

2 open a new scene...merge all geometry, lighting into new scene save as new filename...export/render...that should solve the problem....this happen a lot unfortuneatly.

IllTonkso dont bother re-installing 3DS it is a waste of time...double check the ini paths in the plugin script folder (ermm cant remember off hand..) plugincfg? Anyway try changing the address to some other location...put the model file there...close the scene (without saving the SC4Model filename in the scene--just to be sure) then re-open 3DS and the scene select the modelfile press F2, then CrtlC, paste the name in the scene and see if that works...if not then somehow the script has been saved to the scene and you may have to open a new scene and merge all geometry into it and save anew.

I don't want to use deltree as a result of paranoia (I have had enough problems with harddrives in the past); so I just need a few things cleared up.

From what I have read in this thread, the purpose of deltree.exe is to clear the "outputfiles" automatically and that is its only purpose.

If I just uncheck "AutoExecute" and do not use "Clear Outputfiles" in BatchCMD/ DATCmd (for every seperate render I do), I should not have to mess with the .fsh files manually, and I will just have to do steps 15-17 everytime I render a model?

Subsequently, all I would have to do is delete all the files and folders that are contained in the "Outputfiles" subcatagory before I render a new building?

Am I missing anything?

Jec & Ill Tonkso:

That’s right you can manually delete resulting DAT file and newly created directory sharing its name. Task simple enough, but I must say that deltree works just fine as well. At any case I wouldn’t like to use autoexecute – prefer to control such things myself.

BTW, ILL, have you sorted out the problem you have been writing on previous page?

I have a problem. I recently reinstalled 3dsmax and now if I render something, there aren't any fsh files created during the render. I tried merging, there aren't any gaps in the model name. I even tried reinstalling but nothing seems to work. Please help...

hrmm....you may have to double check the scripts...didn't we solve this issue on MSN Messenger?....perhaps I will make some bundle file of the Bat4max project with all its updates and quirks and upload it for all to use.

Paul, building is offcenter when you whole composition (in MAX) is offcenter as well, as Cameras and lights are suppose to point to the ORIGIN. Well Cameras pointing to the spot about of Origin at about 20m or so, But default Huge rig is screwed and lights are turned in relation to the origin and moved off center and so a cameras, so, to cut long story short - check if your building is centered and there are no any sort of stray Vertex hanging somewhere in the middle of nowhere, and also open Huge rig - one you are using and check position of cameras and lights..( btw do you use default rig or something like my Sun-Sky-Ground system?)
