The starter pieces have white/blank edges and I can't connect anything to them. I don't have any problems dragging/extending them though.

This is fatherted on a different account.

Whenever you plop any starter piece of any kind for road networks (eg NWM), bulldoze the tile with a badly textured/nonexistent sidewalk, and drag the tile which is left both ways.

Let me pull up some more accurate documentation:

People always say to destroy the entire starter, and to that I say this: Don't, and instead destroy the oddly-coloured tile only.

You might want to edit the links as it goes to a reply form on SC4D instead of the actual thread.

Getting rid of the bad tile worked. Now for a follow-up question: Is it normal for the mod network to replace any default street network it touches? Because that's what it's doing in my game.

Yes, because that's what it's supposed to do. It's called an override network for a reason. RHW and NWM do the exact same thing, as long as it's a blank stretch of unoverriden network in direct contact with either the starter or an overriden tile.

For SAM, you can "break the override" by transitioning to Road, then transitioning back to Street, or another SAM network.

Okay, thanks. I'll do that transitioning thing.

There is also a set of " Not entirely satisfactory but with a little thought can be made to allow juxtaposition of multiple SAM textures and even adjoining Maxis streets.
